Overview

There was only one way out for Helen Eastman: Fake her own death and start over, far from harm's way. But her plans were jettisoned one night by a stranger who posed a more intimate peril. He was seductive bad-boy cop Nick Thorndike, the last man on earth she should trust.

When he rescued her from the storm-tossed cliff, Nick had no idea Helen would turn out to be a key witness in his undercover investigation...and an irresistible temptation. He might not be the shining knight of her dreams, but he was determined to prove—to them both—that the safest haven of all was in his arms....

Meet the Author

After retiring from the military, Barbara Phinney decided she needed a creative outlet. Reading had always been a passion for her, so she took the next step and began to write. She wanted to write for a genre that was both exciting and challenging. And what could be more challenging than trying to sort out other people's lives, motives and how they grow to love another person more than themselves? And that's how Barbara chose romance writing.

After writing too many bad manuscripts to count, Barbara finally linked up with other romance writers and the Romance Writers of America. They encouraged her, critiqued her work and in the case of her critique partners, allowed her to wail on their shoulders when the rejections came.

Just before she finally moved into a travel trailer while her dream home was being built, she sent a manuscript to Silhouette, thinking she had plenty of time to settle into her new home before she heard anything from the publisher. Little did Barbara know that an editor had read the story and was trying to get in touch with a contract offer. Barbara claims to be the only writer to get "the call" in a letter!

With no computer or furniture, Barbara managed to polish Trust No One and get it out under the deadline.

Of course, nowadays, Barbara is in her new home, and when she's not volunteering at her children's school, feeding silly yet lovable chickens, or hiking in the woods behind her house, she writes exciting new stories in her new office.

Barbara invites her readers to contact her. You can visit her web site at personal.nbnet.nb.ca/barbarap, or you can write to her at P.O. Box 6352, Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada, E4L 1G6.

From the opening scene when the heroine, Helen Eastman, attempts to fake her own death to the riveting climax, Barbara Phinney kept me enthralled with her debut book, Trust No One. Intimate Moments are my preferred Harlequin/Silhouette books to read, and Barbara Phinney is now at the top of my list of favorite IM authors. I can't wait for her next book to be published.

Barbara Phinney has penned a real page-turned with Trust No One. Tight plotting, high tension, unique setting (Atlantic Canada), and characters you can really root for. Throw in a breathless climax and a tender finish and you've got a classic Intimate Moments! This is an author to watch, folks.

This was a fabulous book and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes to try new authors. It had everything: suspense, sexual tension, great writing and unforgettable characters. I'll be anxiously awaiting Barbara Phinney's next book. It can't come soon enough!
