AT IT'S CORE, AN IMMORAL BOOK

The author completely fails the reader by never disclosing the REAL "truth about homosexuality" or for that matter, the truth about homosexuality among Catholic clerics and how and why it was made illegal by the Church in the 1200s. The reader is left in the same old trail of tears and depression caused by the teachings of the Catholic Church since the 1200's. If you are a homosexual, then be one without shame, because there is nothing shameful about it. There are moral choices me make daily in how we conduct our lives, but we don't get to choose which sexual orientation we are assigned at birth. That choice was made for us and is out of our hands and in the hands of The Almighty. The Catholic Church needs to update it's understanding of the biology of sexual orientation. Some new knowledge has been acquired since the 1200's. Please note I am signing my real name as opposed to other reviewer.

A Gift of Compassion and Truth

This book does indeed tell the truth about homosexuality. The tone is pastoral and compassionate, and it is apparent the author, a Catholic priest, well understands the struggles of men and women who experience same-sex attractions, from his many years of pastoral work in this area. Most importantly, Father John Harvey preserves the integrity of Catholic moral teaching by explaining the value of developing a life of interior chastity in union with Christ. A must-read for any person who experiences same-sex attractions or for those who have a loved one facing this struggle, or even for anyone concerned about the issue of homosexuality, especially from a Catholic moral perspective. As one who experiences same-sex attractions and who also believes in the Church's teachings on chastity, I found this book to be very helpful. A wonderful testament to the beauty and goodness of Catholic teaching!
