Overview

This is going to hurt.

On March 23, 2010, President Barack Obama signed into law a bill that will lead to the largest expansion of government in the history of the United States. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was more than 2,400 pages long and will reportedly cost a cool $1 trillion over ten years, give or take a few hundred billion.

But sticker shock is just the beginning. In The Truth about Obamacare, Sally Pipes shows how Obama’s health care “reform” will crash into our economy and culture with a tidal wave of regulations that, taken together, will fundamentally alter the way we live, work, and see our doctors. How will all those changes affect you, your family, and your fellow Americans? Pipes goes over the bill with a fine-tooth comb, laying out the specifics of how and why Obamacare:

* will drive the country’s health care bill ever higher, according to the government’s own economists
* empowers bureaucrats to deny coverage of cutting-edge medicines in order to save the government money
* will exacerbate our nation’s shortage of doctors—and in fact, is already causing many to close up shop
* will make health care less affordable by forbidding insurers from offering inexpensive, bare-bones policies
* ratchets up Medicare payroll taxes—and adds brand new taxes on income—interest, capital gains, and dividends
* achieves every penny of its supposed “savings” through a series of legislative and accounting gimmicks
* creates a huge new enforcement bureaucracy—including 16,000 new IRS agents and an astounding 159 new boards and commissions—to hound taxpayers, businesses, hospitals, doctors, and insurers into compliance
* will still leave 23 million Americans uninsured by 2019, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

Is it too late to stop Obamacare? By no means, argues Pipes—who shows how Americans can, and must, force its repeal. Then, she offers ten principles for real reform that would make health care accessible and affordable for all without destroying individual freedom, quality treatment, medical innovation, and the economy.

On March 23, 2010, Obama signed into law ObamaCare - Socialized healthcare - that will lead to the largest government expansion in U.S. History - a move that was thee soul reson for the Revolutionary War that brought freedom and personal liberty to this country. ObamaCare is over 2,4000 pages long and will cost the American people over $1 trillion dollars; an additional financial burden on a country already in financial crisis thanks to the Democrat Party. But the $1 trillion dollar price tag is just the beginning, as Sally C. Pipes details in "The Truth about ObamaCare." Pipes exposes how Obama's socialism will crash our economy via higher taxes for all, regulations that are designed to destroy private insurance companies forcing the American people to purchase government controlled health care. How is thst "Hope and Change" working out for you? "The Truth About ObamaCare" is a must read. By being well informed will help those opposed to socialism revert back to freedom and personal liberty.

Most people know that ObamaCare is bad, but until this excellent book no one has made the case against ObamaCare in as much detail and as articulately as Sally does. She outlines the 2400 pages of red tape and bureaucracy fraught with 159 new committees, agencies, and boards and then discusses the devastating effects these will have on patients, doctors, families, and health care costs. While the president is out there with unlimited tax payer dollars and resources to praise his recently passed radical health care prescription, this book sets the record straight. It's a must read!

I feel that this book is full of nothing but speculative banter about the end of the world. Every argument is based on what the author thinks is going to happen. I understand what she is trying to do but I think it is too premature to write a book about the health bill at this time. No one knows enough about the bill to know what's going to happen in the future let alone 2050. I am sorry Miss Pipes but I am sure when America decided to integrate schools, there was probably similar dooms day rhetoric going on as well. Like the economic status of this country no one knows how to fix the problem. It will take time and trials before we get it right. For too long the health care system has been allowed to bankrupt families and deny poor people (preventive). That has to stop. I applaud any person (Barack) who challenges the status quo. I agree that the bill may be very clouded and stuffed with stupidity but just like my parents had enough faith in this country to make integration work; I have enough faith in this country to make this bill work. It is an overall good thing, a humane thing and an overdue thing. I thank goodness that it is at least on the books because now the parties will be forced to address the issue. Authors who give a damn should be writing books on how to make bill work. That would serve a better purpose.
