Book #2 of the Consequences Series:

Nichols endured the CONSEQUENCES of Anthony Rawlings’ vendetta.

When she first arrived to his home, her goal was survival. Through strength and compartmentalization Claire captivated her captor. Her resilience in the face of his rule threatened Anthony’s well developed plan. He thought he taught her to behave—but domination became desire and Claire taught Tony to love.
Their passion and adoration in a world of opulence appeared perfect, yet the reality was a roller coaster of emotion. Claire’s world teetered on the edge of sanity as Antony monitored her every move. When given the opportunity to flee, Claire drove away—a fateful decision which began a well laid plan.
Unbeknownst to either of them, there were others who saw past the perfect facade of Anthony Rawlings. There were others who saw the TRUTH. Conspiracy and unfulfilled promises result in an early prison release for Claire. Not just a release—a pardon. According to the law, her crime never happened!

Will it be that easy? Faced with freedom from her past—can Claire seize it? Can she build a new life, mend her broken spirit, become the woman she once was, and seek her own revenge? Or is it all a game? And does the game master have different plans?
How does Sophia Burke fit into the puzzle that is Tony and Claire? Will her presence affect the future of this well esteemed man? Can he dominate twice? Is that his goal?
TRUTH continues the tumultuous saga of CONSEQUENCES, introduces new players, and uncovers more intrigue. Aleatha Romig skillfully weaves past transgressions through current deception to create a fervent world of obsessed desire. In this reality can an all-consuming relationship survive?
When buried sins are discovered they threaten not only Tony and Claire’s future—but their very lives! Will the TRUTH be revealed in time?

Editorial Reviews

The Romance Reviews - Bookie Nookie
What an exhilarating ride! The players in this game of Truth were intense and charismatic, although new people were introduced our old favorites we love to hate got plenty of face-time, namely Tony. If you like a twisty plot with loads of mysteries around every corner, then Truth is a must-read! It’s a thrilling and thought-provoking psychological thriller at its best! The wait for the final installment is going to be agonizing…2014 cannot come soon enough…
Goodreads - Linda Sims
As I read Truth I was amazed by the storytelling ability of Ms. Romig. This is a complex and involved tale, full of tension and drama that will keep you turning the pages. I am not giving any plot details as I don't want to spoil it for everyone. What I will say is that if you enjoyed Consequences. This one is even better IMO. And I believe that there is to be a further addition to this series next year. I can hardly wait! – Top 1000 Amazon UK Reviewers

Truth will infuriate you, push your boundaries, and leave you begging for Convicted. And if you think you know the truth, I guarantee, you are probably wrong. I know I was. This boundary pushing psychological thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time. You DO NOT want to miss reading Truth.
My Overstuffed Bookshelf - Amy Jacobs
If you haven't read the first book, I urge you to get on it. This is not a stand alone book and you will have to have read the first one titled Consequences to really understand what is going on and the personalities of each character. At the conclusion of Consequences, I sobbed for Claire and had the strong emotion of hate for Tony. I wanted him to pay. I wanted him to be filled with the devastation and despair that Claire was filled with. Most of all, I think I secretly wanted him redeemed. I

    Surprise

I had an extremely hard time reading the 1st book in this series, as a matter of fact, thought of quitting it several times. So glad I didn't. The 2nd book totally made up for my hatred of the 1st. It was nothing the author did, the subject matter was just somewhat hard to swallow! Now Truth was fantastic, twists and turns that blindsided me! Amazing.....devasted I have to wait so long for Convicted. I totally recommend this series....just stick it out through the hard stuff and it will definitely be worth it!

Summary: Even more intense than Consequences! This heart-stopping sequel makes you angrier, happier and more confused than the first book! It thickens the mystery and rivets you to the page.
    Stars: 6 thrilling stars!
Main Characters: Anthony "Tony" Rawlings, Claire Nichols, Sophia & Derek Burke and a host of critical, connected characters
Themes: Love, revenge, manipulation and mystery
    Genre: Psychological thriller
What I ♥ The Most: Like in Consequences, I love the absolute uniqueness of the story. The brilliant writing. The quotes on each chapter. The intense emotions it evokes--many times in contradiction. And I LOVE the complicated characters that are both Claire and Tony.
If You Liked This Try: Painfully, desperately waiting for book #3, Conviction. There really isn't anything like these books. I may offer to do Aleatha's laundry if she can just finish book 3 any sooner!
    *************************************************************************************************

Claire is in jail. That f*****, Tony Rawlings!!! I could not believe it. Even after finishing book 2, I still can't believe he allowed that to happen. The book begins over a year later, with Iowa governor Richard Bosley reviewing pardons. Mysteriously, someone has submitted a request to pardon Claire Nichols, attaching a $100,000 check made out to CASH and asking Claire's lawyer, Jane Allyson, to file at the governor's office. The governor signs the pardon last minute, without releasing her name to the media.

    Gaaahhhh! Yes!!! Yes!!!

And so Claire is released from prison without anyone knowing. She leaves to begin anew, to begin enacting her revenge against Tony. With the help of Amber (Simon's ex-fiance) and Harry (Amber's brother) she settles in California, fearful to be seen,  fearful for her loved ones and fearful to be found by Tony. After all, the entire country believed she was capable of murdering her now ex-husband.

And then Tony finds out she's been freed. And he has NO idea where she is. But we all know money can buy anything and Tony Rawlings gets what he wants. He hires private investigator Phil Roach to track Claire down. Meanwhile, with the help of Harry and Amber, Claire continues her research in efforts to put the puzzle pieces together and try to understand the past in order to formulate her future plan.

Concurrently, a secondary story begins to unfurl and centers around a woman named Sophia Rossi Burke, an artist married to Derek Burke, who signs on to work for Shedis-tics a subsidiary of Rawlings Enterprises. I deduced that the last name Burke was significant, but the how and why was not clear. There are multiple, possible connections, but I couldn't piece it together yet.
Claire begins to re-build her life and gets some extra cash after selling the jewelry Tony gave her... including her wedding rings. A celebratory dinner is in order and Amber, Harry and Claire go out! Her cellphone buzzed and thinking it's Emily, she quickly picks up.

"The voice in her ear caused her knees to buckle and her face to blanch. Good Evening, Claire."
My blood pressure dropped, my heart clenched and I was both frightened... and excited? What?! But then again, after the first book, I had concluded something was wrong with me, without a doubt!!!

Tony tracks Claire in Palo Alto. What transpires is thrilling. Their interactions become an well-strategized game of chess, each trying to exert control over the other, each trying to gain the advantage.

In addition to Sophia's story weaving through Claire and Tony's, we continue to unravel the mysteries of the Rawls family. Despite Claire's work to piece it all together, too many questions remain unanswered. What happened to Samuel's sister? Who killed Anton's parents? Who is Marie? And, amidst spending time together, Claire and Harry begin to get closer to each other. Yet, Claire can't seem to forget Tony.

"Could it be possible to hate and love someone too? Claire wondered... As her unconsciousness flooded with memories, feelings stirred deep inside. Concurrently, her consciousness screamed for her to remember his atrocities, the cruelties which outnumbered the kindnesses. However, her heart ached and argued -- perhaps, his positives could overtake his negatives? After all, doesn't everyone have a good and a bad side?"

At this point in the book, the anxiety is killing me. I'm dying for them to meet again. I wonder what will happen. I'm confused and I couldn't put the book down... not for a single minute. And soon, the long-awaited reunion is scheduled and each prepare their first real move in this latest round of the game.

"Maintaining her mask of calm, she watched as the archway filled with the man from her past."
I'm on the edge of my seat as this scene unfolds. My heart is pounding.

"My, Claire, you continue to amaze me. I see you're trying to show me the new independent Claire Nichols."

These moments between Claire and Tony are electric.

"The secret to getting away with lying is believing it with all your heart, that goes for lying to yourself even more so than lying to another."

There is no denying the pull these two people feel for each other. And Tony grows so much during the course of this book! He tries SO hard. There are HUGE changes and advances. So much so that... okay... sigh... I realize I love him. I love Tony. There,  I said it. Sweet Harry who?
It's difficult to write more than what I've written as I don't want to give anything away, but again, this book is spectacular. I find that my favorite books tend to have a "plus." Whether it be a clever paranormal angle, a shocking premise, or like this one, the thrill of the unknown. I LOVE this series and even though they are longer books, I read Truth in less than 24 hours. Aleatha Romig is so clever and her words are so engaging... It's hard to imagine waiting MONTHS for book 3. I had lots of questions at the end of this book... I would say it's definitely a cliffhanger or rather, it's the precipice of what I think will be the final, exciting culmination. I do however, make some assumptions at the end, but Aleatha's final quote makes me question those assumptions. You never know what comes next.

"You must stick to your conviction, but be ready to abandon your assumptions."

Good writing, not like every book out there, but just like the last one I felt there is a lot of unbelievability in our heroine. Really, she can just get over the fact that he killed Simon, just like that? Not to mention what he did to her. But the book had me discussing it, and I enjoyed the read. I guess that is enough for me.

    My Thoughts:

I was so blown away by the first book in this series I wasn't sure how AR could possibly do any better. I must say this book was wonderful. I didn't rate it five stars because I wasn't as blown away. It was still an AWESOME book and I fully intend to read the next one.

I can not believe that after everything Anthony Rawlings did in the first book he even came remotely close to redeeming himself, but he did it. I am still on the fence about if it is sincere or its just another move in his game of chess. I felt for him in this book though.

Claire just never seems to be free. It was a roller coaster ride for her thats for sure. I really enjoyed the NEW Claire. Her new attitude towards life really made her stronger in all aspects. I loved that she stood up to Tony and didn't let him gain complete control again.

I feel like the ending was maybe a little rushed or maybe it wasn't and it will all unfold in the next book. I am interested to see where AR takes this story..... I wish the release was a little sooner, but I will wait.

    Great Book!

Best book I've read in a long time. So well written and such a great thought out plot. Definitely, not a boring, predictable romantic novel. Love Tony's and Claire's characters. Never expected the ending to this particular book...can't wait for the next book to be out.

Consequences, book #1, completely blew me away. Complete mind-trip!!! I didn't know what to think after I read it. I could not wait to start Truth but in the end I was SO disappointed. Tony needed revenge not redemption..... just couldn't get over their past.
That said, I'll probably read book #3.

Tony is still a rapist and abuser. The author could not turn this around. Claire is simple minded and plain ole STUPID. Women are not this dumb and I say shame on the author for writing it this way. Shame,Shame,Shame

Mini synopsis: "Claire Nichols endured the CONSEQUENCES of Anthony Rawlings’ vendetta."

The twists and turns in Truth, book 2 of Aleatha Romig's Consequences series, gave me a stomachache and butterflies at the same time. Claire has many decisions to make throughout Truth that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.

Book 3 doesn't come out until the end of 2013 or beginning of 2014...that's a long time to wait, but there isn't as heavy a cliffhanger as there was in book 1, Consequences, so it will be worth the wait.

    Hunter's Story: Chapter One

Somewhere, a cat called Nightstar was created......"So, how are we going to get more warriors", Oceanblaze asked Nightstar. "We need to advertise", said Nightstar. The year, 2011. A boy by the name of Hunter had just discovered the world of RP. He decided to join in for the he<_>ll of it. He decided to start a clan called nightclan, as he loved the whole aspect of 'moving through the night'. Appropriatly enough, he named the leader 'Nightstar'. He had just found a deputy to help lead the clan, but only had two warriors. "Ok, I'll go to the Warriors books," said Oceanblaze. Just as she was leaving, Nightstar noticed a tiny black shape in the trees. "Hello?" he said. The kitten ran down the tree. It was very frail, it's ribs were showing. Of course Nightstar took the kitten in, what harm could it have done?
