TRUTH'S AT DISTANCE
ROBERT LOVELLE ROOKS' STUNNING DEBUT NOVELLA! FIRST OF THE THREE PART SERIES 'ONE LIFE STAND'

"Cupcake," he wept. Over and over, while wallowing in the same clothes he left the hospital in. His hair was unkempt, and his beard and side burns looking more like poorly trimmed muttonchops. He wanted to send a text to the guys back in Kuwait to let them know one of three things: He was going to be late getting back, he quit, or he was going to kill himself. The latter he did actually think about. Briefly. Then he realized the reason why he felt so bad would be a moot point if he were dead. Then he remembered he had no phone.

What causes a man to fall from his pinnacle? Meet Percy James, a man enjoying a successful career with the money to buy the expensive sports cars he loves so dearly, a man with a young daughter who he loves and who loves him, a man who's just met the most beautiful and perfect woman in the world. But when the cracked rocks that Percy James' mountain is built upon begin to crumble, he faces the ultimate challenge that may not leave him able to stand.

- This is a story that will definitely make the reader think, relate, and LAUGH OUT LOUD. A real work of dramatic events rolled into a slowly unfolding plot that will leave you, the reader begging for the second and third installments! Enjoy!

-If reading were illegal, would we do it more?

In my opinion, the synopsis draws the reader to a book, but what keeps the reader reading the book is a solid storyline. “Truth’s At Distance” started off with the main character, Percy James, contemplating suicide. So now you are left asking yourself what could have happened in his life to bring him to this all-time low. The makings of a great read? Maybe or maybe not! This book lacked character development - there were characters that came in and out of Percy’s life that added no substance/purpose to the story. After reading 100+ pages I still couldn’t tell what the book was about because the storyline was everywhere. As an effort to draw readers into a sequel, the author added a dramatic ending that felt so rushed that it didn’t make an impact on the story whatsoever. The author was very wordy which led me to get antsy – wishing the author would just get to the point. It shouldn’t take two or more pages for the reader to become familiar with the character surroundings. Robert Lovelle Rooks’ “Truth’s At Distance" had potential to be a good read, but there were too many missing factors. I really wished the author would have taken more time to develop this story. Page-turner! I love it! I can't stop reading this book. I can't wait for the second one to be released. Had the pleasure of meeting the author and he is a wonderful, kind young man. Good Luck and God bless you Robert. .............. D. L.
