I pulled Naomi home on the sled. When we walked through the front door, my mom asked, "How'd it go?" Naomi answered for me. "It was great, Mom." I went up to my room and quickly stripped off all my snow gear. I flopped down onto my bed and punched Thomas's number into my phone. It rang three times before he answered in that British accent. "Hullo?" He said. I smiled, then answered. "Hey, it's Hannah. The girl from the park." I heard Thomas laugh. "Of course, how could I forget you?" "Pretty easily," I snorted. "Don't do that to yourself, Hannah," He said sternly. I smiled at his brotherly tone. "Do what?" I questioned, already knowing the answer. "You know what I mean!" He fumed. "You're beating yourself up and acting like you're not beautiful but you are! You are." I felt my face flush and I was glad he wasn't here to see it. "You're blushing, aren't you?" He asked, and I could here the grin in his foreign voice. "No," I answered him stubbornly. "So, have you found out when you can come back to the park?" "No! I forgot to ask. I'll text you when I get an answer." Before he could respond, I hung up and went looking for my mom. A plan was already forming in my head as to how I was going to ask my mom. When I found her, I was ready. "Hey, Mom, Sofie was wondering if I could go sledding with her." My mom looked up from what she was doing. "But you just took Naomi. Don't you think you should wait for a few days?" I sighed. "I'll let her know that I can't go." She stopped me with a hand. "Hang on. I didn't say that you couldn't go." "So, I can go?" I asked hopefully. She nodded. "Go ahead." I literally ran to my room and texted Thomas. *My mom said I can go tomorrow!* I got a response within a minute. *What did you say?* My thumbs hovered above the screen of my phone before they danced out an answer. *Just that a friend invited me to go sledding tomorrow....* Technically it wasn't a total lie. He had invited me to the park...well, sort of. My phone dinged. *So I guess I'll see you tomorrow after lunch? Or we could go get lunch?* I smiled at his text. *Thomas, are you asking me out? Over a text?* This time, his answer took a few minutes. *Mmmaaayyybbbeee...* I shook my head and told him goodnight, all the while thinking of how he had called me beautiful. I would love comments... thanks!!!!
