Editorial Reviews

Library Journal

While only Chinese to English, this dictionary contains 4800 of the language's most frequently used words and boasts inclusion of the 3000 needed for Levels A and B of the government-sponsored Chinese Proficiency Test. Li (Concise Chinese Dictionary) opens with valuable pronunciation charts and a concise user guide for those confronting a new alphabet. Each entry indicates the word's part of speech and demonstrates its use in a complete sentence. A word finder index and a series of thematic lists that contain common words, their Chinese spellings, and pronunciations make the guide a vital reference. Recommended for language collections.
