I know these are three talented authors and I understand the concept of each author writing from the viewpoint of three different characters; however, the story simply drags along. As always, you will meet some very interesting, successful characters with a ton of "baggage," but it would be nice if the story line would move along at a slightly faster pace.

A must read for the Christmas season every year

Read it out loud with your spouse or a group of your girlfriends. It has it all - bad boys, suspense, lost and found love, scenes to make you laugh, true friendship, misunderstanding, people who never give up on you,and spice.

DNF Thoughts

There is definitely a theme here. Christmas short stories that seem to focus more on the steamy scenes and not enough on plot or character development. It was all just too unbeliebable (I'm not a fan of insta-love or inta-sex) for me to enjoy. I think I need to avoid short stories if they are in the romance genre in future. I'm sure that for many this book delivers...it just wasn't what I was looking for.

Hang on, its an amazing ride!

What an amazing book! You won't believe that it was written by three different authors. These authors have done the impossible, crafted a cohesive book, encompassing 3 (and more!) separate stories, that still reads like it was written by a single skilled storyteller. Sam, Stan and Kevin started out as three boys alone, held together by their "outsider" status. The only adult who believed in them was George, or so they thought. When fate brings them all together for Georges wedding, well, things get really interesting! A group of merry, senior Santa's, a huge snowstorm and a few short days craft together 3 happy endings. Each man finds something really special, and not just Love. I thoroughly enjoyed all the twists, turns and sparkin' heat along the way. You will fall into this story and not surface until the last page.

great holiday read

Twas the Night by Sandra Brown, Trish Jensen, and Kate Holmes
Three orphans, Blue Angel pilot, bounty hunter and an ex NFL football player, are all forced to get back to their hometown for the Christmas Eve wedding of their friend. Problem is the world's worse ever blizzard is ongoing. Where there is
a will there is a way.
There are many references to The Waltons throughout the book but there are just as many spicy steamy scenes.
Starts out with Sam being stranded at PA airport. The ultimate goal is for him and the rest of the wedding party to actually make it to Maine for Christmas Eve. There is a blizzard and it's not only shut down all the trains, and airplanes but the roads.
The towns elderly population is on the Santa Brigade bus traveling to bring cheer to those less fortunate and those who can't get outside to see a real Santa. They are on their way back to Maine to also attend the wedding of their friend.
What is amazing to me is that 3 people wrote this book, not the typical method where one took a character and played out the whole story line but a round robin type. One started and did a chapter and passed it onto the next. They each wrote about what was happening with all the 3 major characters in the chapter before passing it onto the next author.
At times this is a hilarious book and at other times very solemn tones.
I like how you just can't even imagine what is to happen to them next in their trek to make it to Maine. Just when you think ¿ok the road is clear the rest of the way¿ something up occurs.
They all pitched in to do a show or hand out gifts at every stop they came to. Thanks to Reba who knew just everybody they had a place to sleep every night.
The red fluffy handcuff, well a lot of them have them (he he he)
Wheelbarrow sledding, who knew? These adults sure know how to party with limited things.
Such a fun to read book especially more so as it's about a Christmas Eve wedding.

'Twas the Night by Sandra Hill, Trish Jensen & Kate Holmes This book was so much more than I expected. First it is like an anthology but not. There are three stories but they are intertwined with each other. Each author writes a chapter with her couple. There is Sam Merrick, Kevin ¿JD¿ Wilder & Stan Kijewski. They are heading for a wedding in Snowdon, Maine. George, the man who believed in three orphan boys and helped them find their way in life, is getting married and they are his best men. They are stranded because of snow storms closing the East down. But the Santa Brigade, a bus with all kinds of crazy retired folks who bring gifts and entertain at homeless shelters, is running and can pick the men up along the way. Sam Merrick is a Blue Angel but he is no longer content in his life. Fourteen years ago he left Snowdon and Reba Anderson. When he finds that Reba is on the bus and is single, he goes all out to win her back. And he has plenty of help from the Seniors on the bus. Kevin Wilder began as a cop and now he is PI and bounty hunter. He stopped by a town where his next job was to find Cassandra Lee Brandt, she had jumped town on a subpena. He finds an odd Amish woman and when he figures out she is Cassandra, he handcuffs her and takes her on the bus. The Seniors don't let him get around to dropping her off at the sheriff's though. And it ends up Cassandra, known as Callie, is much more than Kevin had ever imagined. Stan Kijewski was quite the football star, until a car accident took that life from him. As he heads to the wedding he has to stop and get some forester friend of George. He pictures a female Paul Bunyan but Dana Freeman is anything but. Tall, beautiful and white gold hair, and oblivious to all his charms that usually have women dropping by his feet. With her ice cold blue eyes she could freeze him, or is it just a facade? The story is more than just their romances. It is about the homeless, the young children with parents who are addicts and more, and how the trip on the Santa Brigade changes the lives of these six travelers. **Language and sexual situations **Received through NetGalley for review.

HEARTING WARMING ROMANCE !!!!!!

I THINK THIS IS A BOOK FOR EVERYONE TO READ?ITS FULL OF LOVE ! LAUGHS ! FUN ! HUMOR AND A STORY WELL WRITTEN ?THE BEST SO FAR!!!

Fantastic Read - A Best Book

A story about the holiday season has never been as hilarious as when these three authors conspired to write a romance and came up with a hit that almost defies description - an anthology that isn't.

I got the biggest kick out of how these three talented ladies wrote this story. It reads as one well put together romance but each author told about their hero and heroine and ran with it while following a single story arc. I am a huge fan of Sandra Hill but I have to tell you, I thought it was going to be easy picking out her unique style and sense of fun and silliness, and it wasn't. I couldn't do it. Ms. Jensen and Ms. Holmes obviously have the same funny bone because I could not stop laughing and grinning throughout the entire book and it didn't matter that I couldn't tell who wrote what - it was seamless and wonderful.

My first hint that this book was going to be special for me was the wedding announcement. Imagine my surprise that it was being 'held' at a church which went by the name of one I attended - another one up in the mountains in an out of the way locale. I thought that was cool. The next is the format. Each chapter is a countdown to the date of that wedding. It was a genius touch. It just goes to show that amazing things can happen in the course of a day's time.

First a reader will meet Navy Commander Samuel Merrick, a man who comes across as a bit of a Scrooge. Readers will feel for him because although he's a man to be respected and reckoned with now, he has a back story that will pull the heart strings of any romance reader. The dialogue and repartee is witty, clever and has a natural flow to it. He blew his chance at love the first time around due to his youthful choices and he's about to get a second chance. Mr. Smooth makes a lot of silly moves and I had a ball watching him court his very skittish miss.

The glue that is tying the entire book together is one man, Mr. George Garrison. He stood by three young troubled boys in their youth and this book celebrates what an early positive influence can have on the men they become.

I love the line about the constipated dog and how it segues into the Santa Brigade, the central story arc. It's a bunch of senior citizens who travel by bus bringing cheer to people all over. The bus driver is a hoot and I still can't get over the name the men call her and I can't even mention it here. I enjoyed how the book almost from the get-go was peppered with colorful and vibrant secondary characters that are like the sprinkles and decorations on my favorite holiday cakes. Even though there are a lot of names and characters, I got to know who was who after a time and I felt like I was on the bus with the guys as they fell in love amidst chaos and snow.

Speaking of which, Sam's first and only love is Reba Anderson and she's on that bus. She herself has some unresolved issues from when she was younger but they get put to rest in a spectacular fashion during the course of Sam's courting her. She certainly didn't make it easy on the poor guy and I adored her for it.

Great Christmas book - fun read

I loved this book. Three authors have collaborated to produce a humorous book about three men trying to get to a good friends wedding, a snowstorm, and a bus full of geriatric Santa's. It is a great holiday read and should be put on the top of your list.
