Meet the Author

I can’t remember a time when I didn’t want to be a writer when I grew up, but there were plenty of times when I wasn’t sure I ever would be. As it turns out, it just took me about twenty years longer to grow up than I expected!


On the road to publication, I took a few detours, including a stint in academia (I hold an MA in Classics from the University of Chicago and was a recipient of a Mellon Fellowship in the Humanities) and many years as a technical writer/instructional designer for a data processing company. I still hold my day job in instructional design, but my true passion is writing steamy romances–both historical and contemporary.


I learned to believe in love at first sight when I met the man of my dreams over two decades ago and to believe in happily ever after when I married him. I live in Southern California with my real-life hero, our three children, and an ever-changing menagerie of pets.

    The Best Naughty Gift Ever!

    It's not often a reviewer can appreciate a publisher, but here I must say thanks to SmashWords and Jackie Barbosa for this delightful collection of twelve spicey tales. The stories are set during the holiday season, each one like a naughty gift from the author for those of us who may have had naughty thoughts during the year. The erotica ranges from mild to hot, and is designed for bedtime reading. It's sure to conjure the most wickedly delicious dreams. [Softcore - 371 pages] JMax

    Great Read!

    I gave this book of short christmas stories 5 stars because I enjoyed every story plus this book is longer than 13 pages. Oh and did I forget to mention it was free? I loved it and I know you will too, enjoy!

    Good read

    Each story was good in its own way. Some better than others. I enjoyed each one, but I do see where some readers wouldn't. Some were very explicit!

    Saved the best for last jmm 44

    All the stories wee good but the last one was especially good!! Would like a whole book out of that one!! Editing could have been better in places

    Not bad.

    These stories are good during certain moods. If you're looking for any deep plots, look somewhere else. Some of the stories were entertaining; others were boring. If you want smut, this should satisfy.

    Some are good

    I liked anout half of them... coulpe were a bit confusing with out enough background and a couple would have been better with more meat. All in all for a free read I'm not disapointed in the least.

    Dont get

    Its not like the twelfth night story AT ALL. Save the purity of ur mind! Jk. But seriously dont buy. Its all sex stories. Bleh.

    Sunstar-elders den

    In a fallen over tree similar to High Log but without boulders supporting it is the elders den. Its covered in honeysuckle, which in new-leaf and green-leaf it mingles with the scent of the lilac bushes of the nursey. The cats who have served their clan all their lives can live their last moons in peace.~Happy Sunstar.
