    Well written, but very dark!

This book consists of 12 short stories which are all interelated. Each has a different main character, but they often show up in another story. They all take place in the same town and the main character of each story is usually greedy, self-centered and untrustworthy!

Not one of the 12 stories left me feeling like I would want to live in this town or have one of them for a friend. In fact, it gave me the same icky feeling a person might get from hanging around someone who commits petty crimes and shows cruelty to other people and animals and you don't try to stop their behavior. I felt mean and dirty and don't want to read any more like this. I do have another book by this author and I really hope I like it better.

    Great winter fun!

Stuart McBride has written another fun book, and I loved it! I am a new fan of this author, introduced by B&N'S free nook book choice of his "Cold Granite" another excellent story! The book is graphic, fast, believable! I for one enjoy the Scottish words and phrases, even the weather becomes almost real! I finished it in one sitting! A++!
