Editorial Reviews

Marlene Pyle, The GenReview.com
They say writers should write what they know, and as a long-time newspaper reporter, Stacy Juba has done just that. Her depiction of a small town newspaper feels real, and even her minor characters are well-developed. The story flows smoothly to its surprise ending, and only then does the reader recognize the hidden clues that have been there all along.
Fran Lewis, Bookpleasures
What do Diana’s studying and painting of Greek and Roman mythology have to do with the surprise ending? You will have to read this well crafted, well-researched and outstanding first novel of the newest mystery writer on the block, Stacy Juba. To the great mystery writers of the 21st century, make room for the author of this great book.
Debbie Wiley Book Reviews
Stacy Juba evokes a wide range of emotions in this poignant tale. The mystery itself is well done while the structure of the novel itself makes the reading flow smoothly. The tidbits starting each chapter add a nice touch as Twenty-Five Years Ago Today is one of those books you pick up and don’t want to put down till the very end.
Diana Vickery, Cozy Library
Even when I’m interested in a premise or story concept, I can be disappointed in how the author handles it. Not so with Stacy Juba. She did a great job with the story. The writing was top-notch, the plotting and pacing excellent, the characters – especially the protagonist – carefully and wonderfully drawn. I can’t imagine a reader who won’t cheer for Kris.
Lynn Cunningham, Fresh Fiction
This was a very intriguing and captivating book...I loved the characters that Ms. Juba has so clearly laid out for her readers. The subplots of the book were also quite fascinating. Kris Langley is a character that you will remember long after you have completed reading this book. Ms. Juba takes control and leads her readers the direction she WANTS them to move in and you won’t be able to figure out the ending until she is READY for you to. All in all, this is a wonderful book.

    Loved It!

This book has it all - mystery, suspense, drama, deceit, and a sprinkle of romance. The characters sparkle with life. For me, this was one of those books where the characters became like friends I was rooting for. Right from the start, I was pulled into the story and taken for a wonderful ride.

Stacy Juba is a terrific new voice in fiction. She's at work on her next novel and I can't wait to read it!

Top notch and original. Characters that will draw you in and a plot that will keep you guessing.

This New England mystery by a promising New England author is about a high profile unsolved murder that occurred 25 years ago. The main character takes it upon herself to investigate on behalf of the victim's family. With much empathy, she gets invovled in their present-day lives.

The reader will form an opinion about each character, and will get a feel for each, both as they are today and as they were 25 years before. The plot is well developed. The suspense builds. The reader will be guessing, judging, and speculating right to the end.

I highly recommed this compelling story to mystery lovers and to readers seeking out new and promising authors.

Thrilling and fast paced read! Highly recommended!

Twenty Five Years Ago Today is a solid and intriguing contemporary mystery by Stacy Juba.

Kris Langley is an aspiring newspaper journalist, working as an editorial assistant and obit writer for a Massachusetts newspaper. She is also in charge of a "25 Years Ago Today" column, and one of her duties is researching the archives. One day she comes across an unsolved murder mystery, that happened exactly 25 years ago. The murder victim was Diana Ferguson, a 21 year old cocktail waitress. Her body was found dumped in the woods. Unfortunately, despite various suspects, no one was ever actually charged with her murder.
Kris knows how it feels to have someone close to you brutally taken away, so she sympathizes with Diana's family. She decides she wants to try and solve the case and bring peace into their lives.
Kris starts to investigate the case on her own, without the approval of the managing editor, who surely wouldn't like the idea. She gets close with the victim's family, winning their trust and affection. With every moment she grows more and more desperate to solve the case.
Things get even more complicated when she meets Eric Soares, Diana's nephew, as the two of them are undeniably drawn to each other.

You won't regret picking up a copy of it. It's a fast-paced and engaging read, with just the perfect blend of mystery, drama and romance. It's definitely a page turner, I had trouble putting it down and thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
Stacy Juba did an excellent job immersing the reader. She kept me guessing who the murderer was till the very last pages , and just when I thought I had it all figured out, there came yet another twist, completely throwing me off! The ending caught me by surprise and was absolutely unpredictable!
I especially enjoyed the occasional sprinkle of Greek mythology, it most definitely added to the whole story, making it even more captivating. The main characters, Kris and Eric, were very likeable and real. The chemistry between them was simply fantastic, yet the romance didn't take over the book. It was just a perfect amount of sexiness to keep me interested, but not enough to make me frown - just the way I like it :)

To sum it all up: I had a great time reading this book. It is a perfectly balanced novel, that has it all: action, unsolved crime, thrilling twists, interesting mythology facts, romance, family drama and more! I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't enjoy it!

Another "Sad when it ends book" for me.

Never read Stacy Juba before, and that was my loss. This book is so wonderfully written and so real. I will definitely be reading more and sincerely hope Ms. Juba is writing away this very minute.

Jus awful, dont waste ur time.

I went back and forth over who was more idiotic; the author for attempting to pass this off as a murder mystery romance or myself for continuing to read it ater the first 20 pages.

This is a great mystery story. It grabbed me from the beginning as Kris comes across a twenty-five year old murder that fascinated her. I was pulled along as she followed clues and became involved with the family. The story kept me guessing. The romance was just enough and didn't take away from the mystery.I listened to the audio book and it was fantastic. The narrator did an excellent job. Very easy to listen to.

Review: Twenty-Five Years Ago Today by Stacy Juba
    4 STARS
Okay this mystery kept me guessing the whole book. Never sure where it was going, made a bunch a guesses. It kept me wanting to keep reading. I look forward to reading more from Stacy.
Kris Langley was newly hired working in the night shift writing obituaries, weddings ect. When she came across a murder that happened almost twenty-five years ago. Kris wanted to help that family get closesure so she wanted to investigated it and see if she can see something different now. Kris had one editor that let her but the other did not like Kris.
Kris when she was younger her cousin was murdered too, but her killer was got and at least helped her family know that. She wanted so badly make up for her cousin death that she though finding Diana killer would make a difference.
Their were lots of suspects, they knew someone had been stalking Diana.
I don't want to say more because I might give something away. It is a very good story. I really wanted things to be resolved for the family I came to care for them. I was given this ebook in exchange for honest review from librarything
