Overview

New York Times bestselling author LaVyrle Spencer presents one of her most beautiful and captivating novels—a powerful story of the human heart you will never forget…

Five long years ago, Laura Dalton stood on the bleak Nantucket shore waiting for her beloved husband Rye to return—until the day she learned his ship was lost at sea. Now, Laura’s lonely heart has found solace in Dan, Rye’s closest friend.

Dan has been a beacon of light in her time of darkness, becoming a father to the child that Rye never knew and giving her a reason to live again. But who could foretell that a wind-roughened sailor with sun-bleached hair would come back into their lives? That Laura’s heart could betray her soul? That Rye would come home again…

Although it was beautifully written (like most of LaVyrle books)

Although it was beautifully written (like most of LaVyrle books) I couldn't get pass the fact that Laura was sleeping and loved both men but in two different ways. She couldn't make up her mind nor was she as strong-minded as she should have been. So her ex-husband became her lover and her present husband became an alcoholic. Certainly not a must read but I finished it anyways. I plan keeping Hummingbird and The Gamble as my favorites from this author.

    Heartwrenching

I loved this book, but it torn my heart out just reading it. I felt so bad for Rye. While the story and description of Nantucket where amazing, I did think the middle of the book was a little slow. But reguardles, I still loved the book and will certainly read it again.

    First time Spencer Reader!

Didn't love it. I wish the main characters would be a little more exciting. Good story, but slow moving. Try it out!

    One of her best

A great book, set WAY WAY back. Although I have never been to this area of America, the FAR east coast, into the islands, it is a touching book. It weaves a triangle situation, that at times, can tear your heart out. A true struggle of love. AND A GREAT HISTORICAL ROMANCE

    'Twice Loved' is emotionally moving.

I loved 'Twice Loved'. This was the first real Romance Novel I have read and it was so great. Mrs. Spencer is a magnificent writer and I cant wait to read more of her books!

    Read with discretion

The book has a good story line but too much sexual description for my taste. There is a lot of detail about people, locations, weather etc. and pages and pages of detail about intimacies... I prefer a good story without the above kind of detail.
