Twiglia Springsinger's Magical Quest for Peas [NOOK Book]

Overview

"It was a dream that brought Twiglia into my life. I woke up laughing that morning and immediately wrote down some notes so that it wouldn't fade back into the Dreamtime...not that Twiglia would have let the dream be forgotten anyway! She's been pretty insistent about coming to life, and after a time of sitting impatiently in a filing cabinet, banging on the walls of the drawer now and then, she was finally pulled out and brought to life when Vickie read the story and agreed to do some drawings for it. So here she is, her and Manley Z. Bug and Flora and the scared little bunny...My hope is that by coming into the world, they bring a few more smiles and laughs to the planet...and I know that the layers of wisdom contained in the story will reveal themselves to the readers over time, just as the dream did with me." --Therese (Author)

The Adventure: Twiglia Springsinger finds a smooth, blue river rock with a perfectly round hole straight through the middle of it! While most of us are aware that Holey Stones carry powerful magic, it was the first time that Twiglia had ever seen one—and she inadvertently ends up in a vast forest because of it!

That’s where she encounters a cantankerous and unusual ladybug who's having a problem that she finds she is able to help with. In exchange for her assistance, the ladybug grants Twiglia a wish.

Twiglia’s wish is to find out “what’s the most important thing she should have in her whole entire life—so that she'd always know what she needs to be looking for.”

The ladybug laid out a course of specific instructions for Twiglia to follow, but as she travels along on her journey, she keeps finding herself in situations that compel her to make decisions that conflict with what she had been instructed to do. She assumes these contradictory choices she makes will prevent her from finding the answer to her question, but loving adventure, she happily journeys on anyway.

Eventually, she does arrive at the answer, but it is cleverly hidden, and not surprisingly, she fails to recognize it—partly because she isn’t expecting to see it.

Concluding with an enlightened twist, the story turns to a wise and elderly flower who explains to her that it was because of (and not in spite of) the choices that she’d made on her quest that she was able to arrive at the answer to her question!

A delightfully adventurous story with enduring appeal, 'Twiglia Springsinger’s Magical Quest for Peas' engages the inner child of children and adults as it humorously imparts a universal and timeless wisdom.

So great for kids' imagination and such a positive theme!

This is Dora the Explorer meets Alice in Wonderland. The illustrations are fun and beautiful. The story flows and my nephews and nieces love reading along. We can't wait for the next book!
