Editorial Reviews

Linda Ulleseit
This novel is a fantastic read! From the very first page, the reader roots for Claire and Uriah as they struggle to be together. The mystical pull of the twin soul is easy for the modern mind to discount, but both Claire and Uriah are unwillingly pulled away from each other to their twin souls.
A wonderful mix of fantasy and legend, romance and adventure, this first novel of the Twin Souls trilogy will make you long to help the young characters make it all right.

    Interesting

I found the general story line interesting. I liked where it was going and I was generally interested in the characters.

However I think it needed an extra oomph. I felt like it wasn't fully developed enough. It didn't seem to know exactly where it was going.

But overall I really did like it.

Pleasant passage of a few hours

In a world where such a thing as "twin souls" exist, two people meant for each other, what happens when two non-twin-souls meet and fall in love?

You get denied by your tribal Elder Council with your marriage request apparently. And such is the plight of Claire and Uriah.

Told from a male narrative mostly, Uriah is the strapping son of a local rancher, he's handsome, kind, chaste, humble, hard-working, athletic, and fair. Claire, who offers a bit of narrative here and there, is the spoiled, manipulative daughter of one of the richer families in town. So obviously, he is completely in love with her since forever (sorry, pet peeve initiated....why is the shallow girl getting the nice guy again?)

Once they are denied being together, with Claire in danger, Uriah set's out to help her, with some assistance from unexpected places.

And the boy does know how to pine, the last third of the book is so much about Claire's milk chocolate eyes, and her glowing skin, and how he would touch her face, over, and over, and over. Granted he's seeking Claire's twin soul, which could end his relationship with her forever, but...it gets a bit repetitive.

One thing that is refreshing, is that it's a semi-paranormal teen romance book that digs into some Native American lore (real or fictitious I'm not sure) that hasn't been covered, as far as I know, or have read of before. No werewolves appear...though there is one shapeshiftery type.

Anyhow, it was an easy and entertaining read. It didn't rock my soul, I didn't put it down and think, I am not the same girl after reading this, that I was before. Which can happen with a book experience.

But again, it was a pleasant passage of a few hours.

    Kept me interested...

At first I was worried it was going to be too young for me. I am thirty and many of the YA books are just too high school for my taste. However, this book was wonderful. It is well written and fast paced. I cannot wait to start book two.

Interesting plot line - a slow starter

I really enjoyed the American Indian mythology come-to-life in this story - but we went from zero to mach 10 in the relationship pieces of this, a bit hard to believe at first. But a good read, enjoyable, enough that I will purchase additional books to see where things go from here.

You want to know what is happening

Like other reviewers I found this book a decent read but it somehow lacked oomph. It was not a lovers book and I am okay with that but a book about people loving and learning that their love is not meant to be, They are fighting for what they want against fate....destiny and tradition, If you believe in any of these then you should enjoy this book.

Some of the "scenes" are pretty far fetched--but you are still COMPELLED to find out the how the story finishes in the end!!
