Avalin Marsh's eleventh birthday has left many scars. First of all, no one, and I mean no one, showed up for her birthday party. Why not? And, that is the day she saw her mother had killed another person. Now she is seeing distorted faces and hearing voices. Is she now going insane as her mother did?
In this book you will meet non-humans and adventure. It's a page turner. You keep reading as you want to find out more. And in the end, you still want more. So there has to be a sequel out there somewhere.
Thank you A. L. Collins

I was given this book for review as part of the blog tour. I am so glad that I signed up for this blog tour and was given the opportunity to read and review this book. This book is unlike anything I have ever read before. Both the concept of the book and the actual writing. Both of these made this book a very enjoyable experience. The author has a kind of humours/sarcastic feel to his writing that I really enjoyed. He wasn't afraid to write what he felt, and that was great.
This book is about the supernatural, yes. But not the supernatural that we are used to. There are no vampires, werewolves, creatures of that sort. Nope, this is an idea that I have never read about before, and frankly really enjoyed. I'm not going to get into the idea too deep, because I feel it would be a spoiler since the main character doesn't even know about them until a bit into the book. So just know that it is a fresh and new idea, and one that you will definately enjoy!
I really enjoyed the action type moments in this book. I felt that they definately gave a bit more to the story. I did however feel that some of the storylines were a bit rushed, but it didn't really take away from the story too much in my opinion.
The main character, Avalin, was awesome! I really enjoyed her voice! It is a lot different that the usual main female leads wimpy whiny voice. This might have to do with the fact that it was written my a male, but either way, Avalin has found a place as one of my favorte characters of all time. And seeing as I can't say it enough, characters are kind of my things, so I don't know, that's pretty good I guess. The side characters were great too, even though they aren't in the story all that much. I would have really liked to see more of Josh, Avalin's brother. He just seems to a fun character to get to know...
Overall, I loved this book. But what the heck...it ended in a massive cliffhanger. I have never needed a sequel more in my life!!! A.L. Collins is definately a great author that I will be adding to my read whatever he comes out with list. :)

Avalin's mother killed a woman in her own home and now years later Avalin thinks she's going crazy too seeing faces, hearing voices, but along come Albert who tells her she's not going crazy and that's where all the fun begins.
Romance, Intrigue, Adventure and non-human humans. What else can you ask for?! This books is brilliant. I found not one thing that I didn't like. Not one! The romance was swoon-worthy, the Intrigue kept me coming back to find out more, the adventure had me turning the pages at alarming rates and the non human humans well those you'll have to read for yourself.
Not only did it start out incredibly it it also middled (I think I just made up a word) and ended on the same note. A perfect end to leave me asking for more. The plot, the characters, pace, everything was incredible. There are little clues here and there that I think will come up in the sequel and I am just so excited to read and find out more.
Avalin is a quirky, smart mouthed take-no-crap-from-anyone kind of chick and I could really relate to her (well not the having a mother who killed someone in their kitchen part). The characters were all very real and we all know an Avalin, Albert, and Jessica in high school.
Overall this book was brilliant and I recommend this book to everyone! Seriously people go read it because if you don't you will be missing out on an amazing book. And trust me you want to know about the non-human humans!
