"I'm an Italian-Texan woman in a family full of cops. I'm passionate and shoot before I think. You only f*ck with me if you're stupid."

Photograph cheating spouses. Hand over the evidence. Cash my check.

That was my plan when I returned home to Holly Woods, Texas, and became a private investigator.

Finding the dead body in my dumpster? Yeah... Given the choice, I think I would have opted out of that little discovery, especially since all three of my brothers are cops. And my Italian grandmother is sure the reason I'm single is because of my job.

Of course, my connection to the victim is entirely coincidental. Until I'm hired by her husband to investigate her murder and shoved bang-smack into the path of Detective Drake Nash. My nemesis, a persistent pain in my ass, and one hell of a sexy son of a bitch.

Shame he still holds a grudge from that time I shot him in the foot twelve years ago, or we could have something. In another life.

So now all I have to do is avoid my nonna's blind dates, try not to blackmail my brothers into giving me confidential police files, and absolutely do not point my gun at Drake Nash. Or kiss him. Or jump his bones.

All while I hunt down the killer.

Sounds totally simple--until a second body proves that sometimes things that start as coincidences don't always end up that way...

¿¿¿¿¿ When I read the blurb for this I was more than a little bit excited, Emma is one of my go to authors so reading Twisted Bond was a no brainer! I was swiftly swept up by the whodunit storyline, I just couldn't put my Kindle down, the mounting suspense driving me to finish the book as quickly as I possibly could! The complex plot had me on the edge of my seat and with each new development in the case I became more and more enraptured!  The characters are amazing! Drake and Noelle are about as predictable as a storm and every single time they are around each other the people surrounding them feel the full force of their tumultuous relationship, they are another level of explosive. Holly Woods has all the personalties that you'd expect from a small town and I loved seeing Noelle use their strengths and weaknesses to her advantage, she is one of the sassiest and most badass female characters I have come across so far! Drake has all the qualities that I've come to love from Emma's guys, he is 110% alpha male but he can admit when he is wrong and those eyes... Talk about expressive!! Thank you Emma for another truly phenomenal book! I can't wait for another Holly Woods Files book!!

This is the first book by Emma Hart that I've read, but it will not be the last! Book one of the Holly Woods Files was such an amazing story! The main character is a strong sexy Italian Texan women who runs a PI business is a ex-cop and never has less than two guns within reach at all times. This book made me laugh so many times I lost count. There is a murder mystery that forces Noelle Bonds and Detective Drake Nash to solve the murders. Funny is how fast and well the PI business does at finding information verses the HWPD and their group of detectives. Noelle and Drake have such strong sexual heat that is played off in tension and hatred that you are just waiting for them to jump into bed together. Such a great story, and I can't wait to read the rest!

Twisted Bond by Emma Hart is the first book in her brand new series the Holly Woods Files. Set in the small town of Holly Woods, Texas this first book focuses on Noelle Bond and Drake Nash. While this book completely stands on its own, if I HAD to compare... I would say it's 3 parts Stephanie Plum and 1 part Kay Scarpetta, and of course, 100% awesome. Noelle is proud owner of her own business. A Private Investigation firm in Holly Woods. She used to be a cop, it was in her blood, her grandfather, father, and brothers... all cops. When she was on the force in Dallas, something went wrong and she decided to return to the small town that was in her veins and put her exemplary cop skills to use as a PI. For Noelle, it's all the investigative fun without any of the takedown and capture drama. Plus she makes enough that she can buy pretty shoes (and cupcakes) and who doesn't want more pretty shoes (and cupcakes)? Drake Nash is the bane of Noelle's existence. When a dead body shows up in the dumpster behind her building her life begins to go a little off track. Drake is always around, the investigation is too personal (her dumpster, her building...) This story is fabulous. It is funny, suspenseful, intriguing. The sexual tension between Drake and Noelle just builds and builds... AND BUILDS. It is off the charts in the panty-melting tension department. I'm very excited to read more in this series and cannot wait to see what happens next for Noelle and Drake.

I absolutely loved this book. There isn't anything I wanted to change except for the fact I didn't want the story to end. I don't think I've laughed this much or this hard while reading a romantic suspense novel since I read One for the Money by Janet Evanovitch. In fact, if you're on the fence and you're looking for a comparison, go with that one, but hotter. If you've ever read a book by Emma Hart before, and I have, you know she writes great romantic tension. This book had it in spades. Noelle and Drake were unbelievable. Their verbal sparring and attempts to out do each other while working on a case were phenomenal. I loved Noelle's attitude towards her job. She worked hard and loved it. She's one tough woman and so fierce! I loved Noelle's interactions with her family. It was clear how much they loved one another, even when they bickered and teased each other. I absolutely loved Noelle's Nonna. That woman was mostly infuriating, but she was so entertaining! Her machinations to get Noelle a man were inspired. Another aspect of this book done really well was the suspense. I was on the edge of my seat while reading and trying to find out what was going to happen next. At no point during the story was I able to judge the identity of the killer. I loved how each page brought something new to the case. I'm so glad there's another book coming. I don't think I can ever get enough of Noelle, Drake, and her family. I'm really looking forward to more shenanigans and laughter from them. I really think this is the best book Emma Hart has written so far. If you're looking to read something different, something that'll make you laugh, pant, and get your adrenaline up, this book is for you!

After reading the customer reviews, this sounded like an interesting book. After buying it and reading the first three pages, I decided it wouldn't be worth my time.

“Drake Nash is my tornado. He’s roaring through my life, ripping apart my days without care or thought, obliterating any control I think I have and twisting it until I’m so out of control that all I can do is get caught up in his whirlwind” Wow! What a great start to this series! Emma Hart has done it again. Twisted Bond is refreshing, mysterious, full of tension, captivating and will leave you wanting more…. Twisted Bond follows the story of Drake and Noelle. Noelle is a former cop, now turned private investigator, who spends her time catching cheating spouses. That is until a dead body turns up in her dumpster. The last thing she expected was to find herself investigating a murder and having to work alongside her arch nemesis, Detective Drake Nash. Putting the two of them together is like mixing oil and water, they don’t mesh. But, if they ever want to solve this murder, they are going to have to push their differences aside and work together. Sounds easy enough right?!? On the path to find the truth, danger is lurking around every corner. Can Drake and Noelle put their differences aside? Will Noelle be able to solve this crime before it’s too late? Twisted Bond was such a refreshing read. I was so excited when I read the blurb for this story. I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. And let me tell you, I devoured this book. From the moment I started reading it, I could not put it down. I was hooked. The chemistry and tension between Drake and Noelle was electric. They had the whole hate/love relationship down. I couldn’t get enough of the two of them. With quotes like this: “It’s short and harsh and hot, the kiss is almost bruising in its intensity, and it’s like everything has stopped, the world stilling on its axis. No more ticking clocks, no more wondering about tomorrow or next week or next year. Just now. Here, now. This second. This very moment. This very touch that is equal parts thrilling and terrifying, because no one should be able to make someone feel like there is nothing left in existence but one simple kiss.” I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. When you put the two of them together, there was never a dull moment. I loved how Independent and feisty Noelle was. She did not hold back. She let you know exactly what she was thinking. And she just loved frustrating Drake. Drake was a great match for Noelle. He didn’t let her get away with anything and wasn’t put off by Noelle’s feisty attitude. I loved watching the two of them interact and the passionate way that they fought with one another. Twisted Bond is the first book in the Holly Wood Files series and boy, is this series off to a great start. I loved it all, from start to finish. The plot was captivating and the story was well written. I found the characters to be memorable and intriguing. I especially loved Nonna. She was everything that I expect in a meddling, Italian grandma. I couldn’t wait to see how she would “torture” her grandkids next. She was a riot. I had such a fun time reading this book. I really enjoyed trying to figure out what was going on and who the murderer was. Twisted Bond is an exciting new series that is filled with mystery, suspense, sexual tension and had twists that I didn’t see coming. I can not wait to get my hands on the next book. I definitely recommend checking this book out! *I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*

Noelle Bond, ex cop turned private investigator in the small town of Holly Woods, Texas.  Exposing adulterers by day and handling her persistent, Italian grandmother (who is determined to marry her off) by night. One day after lunch, a dead body is found in the dumpster located on the property of Bond P.I. Suddenly, Noelle and her P.I. team are trading in the usual married cheater case for something a bit more sinister.  The issue arises when Detective Drake Nash walks onto the scene. Sharing a familiar past due to their law enforcement backgrounds doesn’t mean these two get along. While they’re busy bumping heads and tossing around sexual innuendos, the bodies begin to pile up and a connection starts to link the victims together. As much as Detective Nash wishes Noelle wouldn’t implement herself in his case, they come to find out that she’s stuck right in the middle of the investigation no matter what. Is there a threat on Noelle? Can Drake protect her from danger? And more importantly, will they be able to set aside their differences in order to catch the killer before they add to the body count? ******** Noelle Bond is a force to be reckoned with and as long as you buy her cupcakes, you’ll stay on her good side. She is a badass that gives that ol’ James Bond a run for his money.  She oozed wit and sarcasm all while slinging a gun (or two) and eating a cupcake.  On the other hand, there were moments where I wanted to slap her across the face over her thoughts and feelings toward Drake that seemed to be all over the place.  You could say they have a form of a push and pull relationship, but it’s certainly more of the former. They no doubt had a lot of heavy chemistry between them that really amped the overall flow of the story. The “romance” side of their relationship—which is practically non-existent—was again, all over the spectrum so I tended to push it aside and focus on the mystery at hand. With all the questions floating around of who was who and who did what, it was so easy to become wrapped up in the storyline. I felt like I was right there with Noelle and Co. solving the case. I had my suspicions from the start and though I had the real culprit pinned right away, there were several moments where I began to consider other possible killers. Certain revelations had me stumped and questioning everyone’s motives. Some truths were revealed, but then they just opened up more questions. Slowly but sure, more pieces of the puzzle began to fall into place and the twists were the perfect treat to keep me entertained and engaged. This new series from Emma Hart shows a lot of promise. Authors embarking on something new is always nerve-wracking and can either thrive or crash and burn. Fortunately, Emma's impeccable writing ability places The Holly Woods Files series on the path to success. Long time fans have seen the sexy and sweet sides of her work, but Twisted Bond proves to be refreshing with its spontaneous thrills and mysterious events. You should have no reservations about picking up this new suspenseful novel. You'll still get comedy and sexiness, but just add a huge side of murder and mystery. Think Agatha Christie... Only sexier! As stated in the note along with the synopsis, this book doesn't end on a cliffhanger. However, it is not meant to be read as a standalone. You can surely read it like one, but don't expect to get a happily ever after in the romance department. Above all, this book/series centers around the mysterious murders and crimes taking place in the small town. While there is a small romantic aspect to the story, it is not at the top of the agenda. I recommend following along with the entirety of the series if you’re looking to add something new to your reading list
