Twisted happens to be book 5.5 in the Dark Protector series though it actually happens to be the first in the series that I have read. I met Rebecca a few months ago at a World-Building workshop that I was moderating and was able to get amazing writing advice from her which turned my interest towards her books. I stumbled upon Twisted through NetGalley and just had to give it a shot and I am so glad I did. I was a bit nervous about it being book 5.5 but honestly I wasn't missing anything as far as information or world-building that left me hanging. It can absolutely be read as a stand alone though trust me when I say that you won't be able to stop at Twisted. You're going to want to read more and thankfully Rebecca has 7 full length books and 2 novellas in the series for me to devour. Twisted centers around Maggie and Terrent. Two wolf-shifters with a surprising connection that leads them through some interesting twists and turns while Maggie tries to figure out who she is and Terrent tries to win back the girl who's heart he had already won before. I loved the story and I loved Maggie, especially when she punches Terrent in the face for being an idiot. Go Girl Power! This one was a quick read that I really enjoyed. If you aren't familiar with Rebecca's works this one will suck you in. The small peeks at Jase that I got in this novella left me wanting so much more and I can't wait to find out what his story is in upcoming works.

Finally Maggie and Terrent's story! I have been dying for this since the beginning of the series. I was not disappointed at all. Thou it is just a novella, it is jammed packed full of love, action and some comedy...Rebecca Zanetti is a genius writer and has made me a life long fan!!

I actually couldn't wait to read this novella. I was curious to find out just how Maggie, the heroine, and Terrent, the hero, were linked in earlier books. Needless to say, I hopped on this one when I saw it was available.

In my opinion, Maggie is an awesome heroine, rather uncoordinated, but awesome. Terrent, mmm, Terrent. I love growly, alpha males with a hidden agenda. Though, I loved the vulnerability he exhibited when it comes to Maggie.

The side story with the pack Terrent lived with was pretty entertaining to read as well. In particular, two wily cheerleaders with ninja reflexes. Actually, that part of the book had me laughing out loud. I truly love Rebecca Zanetti's protective, possessive, alpha males. Plus, I really thought this was a great, short addition to the Dark Protectors Series. I'm glad that Maggie finally found her happily ever after. She deserved it.

If you haven't read the Dark Protectors Series, I recommend you start with the first in the series, Fated. I've really enjoyed every book I've read in this series and look forward to the next.

Excellent continuation in Rebecca's Dark Protector series. I really enjoyed the wolf shifter pack. Terrent is a great mixture of alpha male but with just enough tenderness and caring to make a girl fall in love fast. Would have given Twisted 5 stars but every love scene was hard, fast, aggressive and very dominant. Making every love scene read the same. I like to read about a guy that can be self-confident enough to give a girl a tender, slow and sensual love scene too.

I've waited a long time for Maggie and Terrent's story...and I wasn't disappointed. Maggie, a wolf shifter, was kidnapped by the Kurjans 10 years ago and now has no memory of anything that happened in her life before those 10 years. Terrent is a sexy lone wolf shifter who has had chemistry with Maggie from day one. We finally get to delve into both their past histories and find out what makes them both tick. While we learn a little more about the war that is still going on between the Vampires, the Kurjans, and the Demons, this story gives us a little humor. I loved the cheerleaders. They're spunky and not afraid to stand up for themselves, especially in a male dominated pack.

I was thrilled when I received the ARC for Twisted. I am a BIG fan of this series. Rebecca Zanetti has worked her literary magic again. I couldn’t stop reading once I started. Twisted is book 5.5 of The Dark Protectors series. I do not recommend reading if you have not read the previous books. This Novella is about Terrent Vilks and Maggie. We met these characters in previous books and I don’t know about you all but I was hoping there was romance budding between the two. But I did not expect the Twist in the story. The twist being that Terrent knows Maggie and they have a serious past.
“I want you to remember me from before you were kidnapped ten years ago.”
Maggie, the smart-assed, clumsy wolf shifter, whose memory has evaded her for the last ten years, is sent to Wolf shifter headquarters to ferret out the traitor sabotaging the vaccinations. She has spent the last 10 years with the vampires and not with a wolf pack. Excited and nervous to be around her “people”, she’s hoping to help the Realm by catching the perpetrator. Maggie is taken to Terrent Vilks. The man who makes her feel strange things, and quite frankly makes her nervous. Well, she did take him hostage once.
As head of the Bane’s Council, Terrent is in charge of hunting werewolves and investigating Shifter affairs. He’s all Alpha male and ready to claim his mate. He’s finally gotten Maggie where he wants her. With him but, she is one stubborn woman. Can he get her to trust him? Fall in Love with him? Or perhaps maybe, her memories will return. One thing is for sure, she is his. He’s waited 10 years, little wolf.
“I own you, little wolf. Never forget it.”
Maggie is caught between what she remembers and what she’s being told. How could he not tell her that they had a past! He wants her to mate with him. Maggie is having no parts of the mating but she can’t fight the feelings of lust and maybe a little something else. Terrent has to step up to plate immediately, protecting Maggie. Her pack has found out she was alive. They want her. The Raze pack, who they are currently staying with is unsettled, a new alpha is about to take over. As things get hot and heavy between Maggie and Terrent Maggie begins to feel her love for Terrent. She wonders if she really needs her memories to create a future. Create a family? Find a pack?
“Yeah. On some level, she remembered him. He’d been right. She’d loved him. Hell, maybe she still did. Seeing him taking down three wolves heated the blood in her veins. As an animal shifter, he was all alpha. The perfect mate to protect the children she wanted to have. Someday.”
It’s a short story but it packs a punch. We experience the intense lust between the two wolves and his dominate nature. Her sassiness antagonizing his in charge nature. Who doesn’t love an alpha male? One word – HOT.  I definitely love seeing them challenged. All that mixed together and it lead to some steamy moments. Oh, Yeah.
“Air swept against her as they maneuvered to the rear of the cabin. The scent of Scotch, musk and male filled her senses. Her butt slapped the hardwood desk in his study. Then he was on her. Hands in her hair, mouth taking hers……..”
Let’s not forget some kick ass fighting and you have a sexy, action adventure.  I loved this story. Terrent has always been a character that struck my curiosity. And poor Maggie, had no clue who she is or where she was from. In this story we find closure for them. I’m happy they got a story. Every book in this series is so well written and integrated with the others, you really feel that you are always in touch with all the characters, forming a bond with the Realm. I highly recommend this series if you love alphas and the paranormal genre.  I give this book 4.5 novella stars.  I’ll be waiting not so patiently for Jase’s story.  Squeee!

    Secrets and deception……

Maggie has been a delightful force through many previous books; and her story of torture at the hands of monsters is only surmounted by the loss of her memory.
While many have befriended and cared for her, she still feels a loss that can’t be explained, and a desire to belong that is all consuming.
So when Maggie agrees to a mission to infiltrate the wolves for the purpose of exposing a traitor, she does not expect to discover she has been lied to for a decade.
One very sexy Alpha wolf has a lot of explaining to do, and Maggie may not like the answers he’s about to reveal.
This story was a fast read, but prominent in the overall context of the series, and the characters were heartfelt and enchanting.

    A Strangely Twisting Story♕ Chapter Three♕ "Feelings"

<^>&#9819 Okay. First, thanks for reading my stories. I hope you're enjoying them so far. Second, I wanna change a couple things. One, I'm changing Zexia's age to 19. Two, I'm changing her eye color to a strange bluish gray with light green around the pupils. Three, my intrests have changed so now the ending will be Final Fantasy 7, Advent Children(I love that movie/game! Also, I kinda developed a huge crush on Cloud!!) Alright, enough chatter. May I present you with...THE STORY!!!!!&#9819<p>I take a deep breath & the spinning stops. I walk slowly up to the stage & stand beside the other girls. "And now for the boys." Jenessa tiptoes to the other bowl & gets five slips. The first four names are unfamiliar to me. But the fifth name threatens to send the world spinning again. "Cloudixan Bergns." We used to be boyfriend & girlfriend. I can feel my face reddening & I find one thought repeating in my head like a broken plastidisk. "No! If he doesn't survive the two years I'll die of pure anguish!!!" Jenessa continues as he stands beside the other boys. "As usual we send the Harvested out in pairs. Here are this years pairs for Sector Five: Cloudixan Bergens & Zexia Jengast..." Jenessa keeps reading but I don't hear. Nor do I care. I feel a rush of old feelings for him. Suddenly the Shadowmen, guards from Privimel City, are escorting us to the speedport cars.<p>Soon the speedport is rushing us away from Sector Five toward Privimel City. I gaze out the window, still assaulted by a rush of emotions. It's no secret now that we used to be together. My expression is probably playing for all of Kerredan to see. Ugh. I dont know what's wrong with me. The past is behind us. We're just friends noe. Nothing more. Sure, he's grown up alot since we were thirteen(he's the same age as me), but so have I. I mean, sure, maybe his hair is a deeper & more striking blond & his eyes a much lighter blue & his overall cuteness has greatly increased, but I've changed too. My hair used to be brown & come only to my shoulders. And yeah I quit wearing my blue contacts. But that shouldn't change how I feel about him, should it? I hear him walk up beside me. I risk smiling at him & find his eyes aren't light blue like they looked. They're a strange bluish gray with light green around the pupils, like mine.<p> Is this a sign? That he's the one? Or am I just overreacting because we have the same eyes?<p>"Nice eyes." I tease. He grins. "Thanks. Yours too." He teases back. Suddenly he becomes serious. "Zexia, what was your first thought when Jenessa read my name?" I look at him. Is he serious, or still teasing? You can never tell with Cloudixan. "Are you serious?" I ask. "Yes, I'm serious." 'Okay.' I think to myself. 'Time to be honest with him.' "Well my first thought was, 'No! If he doesn't survive the two years I'll die of pure anguish!!! What about you? When my name was called?" Cloudixan looks slightly surprised. "I thought the exact same thing you did."<p>My eyebrows raise. Impulsively, we reach for each other's hand. Then, out of the corner of my eyes I see a rosy flash of color. I look out the window. The speedport comes to a halt in front of the massive rose-colored marble wall of Privimel City.<p>Before entering Privimel City you have to go through a sanitation process. By the time we come out, we both agree that we feel like raw hunks of scrubbed flesh. Then, we are hustled into Privimel City.<p><^>&#9819 Next part @ story res 1&#9819<p>&#99825KHfan4ever&#9825

Action packed but missing some details.

This is the first book I have read from this author. I loved the book, the characters, and the plot. But there were some details missing that I would have loved to have read about. What exactly did the lead female character go through during her captivity. While losing her memory conveniently allows for the author to skip over that... one might think as the lead character is slowly regaining her memories she would have some sort of flash back/recall. The anxiety attacks were a small but of what one would expect after being held captive. A quick enjoyable read.

I love Rebecca Zanetti and I love this series, was expecting a little more from this book, a little more info into the story and the war with the Kurjans, and what is going on with Janey. Am looking forward to the next book out in October, the story of Jase.

    LOVED IT!

If you have read the Dark Protector Series you know very little of Maggie's past. It's great to finally know more about her and how Terrent played a part in her life. I'm looking forward to the next book in this incredible series and highly recommend reading them all for anyone new to the Dark Protectors! Happy reading :)

    Terrific reading!

Rebecca is a recommended author that is new to me, however, once I started reading her books, I couldn't stop. I loved the recent release of Moon--I would give this book a 10!! After I read Moon, I then purchased and read the previous books in the series.
Twisted is a great read, I couldn't put the book down. Loved the characters, hot guys, and happy ending.
