Meet the Author

Art Maurer is a retiree at last pursuing the advice of his high school English teacher, the late Father James Malone, S.J., that he "might consider becoming a writer." But the demands of earning a BS Economics degree at Holy Cross College in Worcester put the idea on hold. His career as an executive with Rochester Tel/Frontier and the challenges associated with raising a family of seven children further deflected creative writing efforts. In retirement, he joined the Webster Writers Group in suburban Rochester and wrote a memoir dedicated to the "Grandchildren of my Children." Then he turned to fiction and although "Twisted Vines," disclaims any resemblance to actual locales, many summer vacations in the wine country of the Finger Lakes inspired the setting for his first novel. Art lives with his family in Penfield, New York.

    Worth the read!

A few wonderful afternoons were spent reading "Twisted Vines". Where else could a person find a book with so much feeling, emotion, love/hate, humor, resolve and passion? I thank the author for the opportunity to "escape" for a while into "another life."

A great book to relax with after a busy day

Great story with delightful characters in a setting that takes you lakeside. I felt like I was on vacation while reading it. The characters in this story make the book. Jackie is delightful. If you've ever had in-laws who don't approve you are going to love and hate the grandmother in this book. And who doesn't love a good story with great wine.
