We read this book in December a few years ago for book club. It really put me in the Christmas spirit. I could read this book every year. I'm looking forward to reading Three from Galilee next month for book club.

I have been reading this book every Christmas season without fail. It brings the Christmas Story to life. The author makes us realized the real human worries, concerns, excitement, hardship, suffering that not only Mary and Joseph went through, but perhaps their families as well. I find the book to be very well written, and it touches my heart and makes me pause each day during the Christmas season to remember. Every year I find something new in this book that touches my heart and my specific circumstances that year, and gives me pause to consider how God is working in my life. I'd recommend the book as a must to be read every year once you purchase it.

I give this little book as a gift to any young woman I know that has become engaged to be married. This simple story really brought home to me the deeply profound love that two people shared as they brought a baby into the world under so much uncertainty. I never thought about Mary's fear, Joseph's mistrust, their families' obvious ridicules, but through it all their love perseveres and their love brings the Savior of the world into our lives. I read it every December without fail.

Two From Galilee brings the magic of the Christmas story to life. You can see the star, hear the baby, and smell the hay. we are reminded of the miracle of birth, and how the coming of our Savior was (and still is!) so incredibly special. No Christmas season is complete without it!

The characters are well developed. Not too long of a read. Loved it.

Once upon a time in real history a real child was born who changed the world. Marjorie Holme’s Two From Galilee imagines the story of that child’s parents, Mary and Joseph, in their small town of Nazareth in Galilee. The novel was published in the 1970s and the research may not be entirely up to date, but it’s close enough. Families dream of great futures for their children, love intervenes, and unplanned pregnancies are as hard a fate to cope with then as now. But this pregnancy has more than the usual cause behind it, and the author blends a well-drawn evocative vision of time and place with nicely imagined mystery and deep faith. Following the road from Bethlehem to Nazareth and back, working in the fields, toiling with wood, rebelling against Roman rule, and more, these characters live real lives in real places and eventually place their trust in a very real God. For all that the reader must know the end of the tale, this novel’s a thoroughly enjoyable read, its details enthralling as a well-told historical romance, and its plot pleasingly different even as it follows a well-trodden path. If you’ve ever wanted to imagine how Mary felt, or even her mother, this is the book for you. Disclosure: A friend loaned me this book.

For a different view of Mary and Joseph and the Christmas story about the birth of Jesus, this book is written to convey the possible thoughts of a young girl getting married and having the Christ Child. I originally read this book years ago and wanted to revisit it.

Teacher friend lent her's out, a few times. None were returned! She was having a rough time finding it to replace her copy. I went to BN' s web site. A copy arrived just in time to present her a copy for Christmas. :)

This is such an inspiring book. I have read it several times at Christmas. It puts the reader right there inside the emotions of Mary, Joseph, and their families.

Read this book years ago and love to read it between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Reminds me that Christmas really is all about the gift that God gave the world, His Son Jesus. Was so glad to see it available for Nook.
