Overview

Two Heartbeats Away unveils two plots to murder U. S. government officials. Arab terrorists set out to murder the President and Vice President in order for the half-Arab Speaker of the House of Representatives to ascend to Oval Office. At the same time, a senior U. S. Congressman hires a team of racist mercenaries to kill the House Speaker because he resents having a half-Arab two heartbeats from the presidency--behind the Vice President and President. Neither group is aware of the other's intentions. When the terrorists succeed, the congressman steps up his efforts to have the new President assassinated. This story illustrates how political maneuvering and ethnic bias can change abruptly the leadership of the world's most powerful democracy. Two Heartbeats Away was conceived and partially written prior to the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and is eerily prophetic.

    Two Heartbeats Away

'Two Heartbeats Away' is both prophetic and realistic. The author has conducted enormous research and presents compelling facts that bear out the realism in his superbly crafted tale. From the opening, summarized in the revealing prologue, to the exciting conclusion, Author Mitchell has recaptured his gift for telling an entertaining story. Like his earlier books, this one merits wide readership and soul-searching. The biggest question is: Is it real or imagined?

    Two Heartbeats Away

Mitchell has captured the essence of what could have occurred before 9/11 and wrapped it in chilling, irrefutable facts to give it realism and credibility. He has done impeccable research to capture the customs and mentalities of a people whose commitment to an ageless struggle will not end as long as Israel remains a dominant force in the Holy Land.

    Fiction or Reality?

I have to admit that I ran across this book by pure accident. I was scanning the Barnes & Noble website for some suspense thriller novels, and saw this book. Although, I had never heard of Nathan Mitchell, the book summary intrigued me, so I decided to buy it. I'm glad I did! This book is full of so many characters, that it keeps you thoroughly entertained. From the racist rednecks to the middle-eastern terrorist, there was never a dull moment. Because this book is listed under 'fiction', I have to believe that this is the imaginary works of Mitchell, however, in the back of my mind I wonder...

    Two Heartbeats Away

The thriller of all thrillers, 'Two Heartbeats Away' captures the reader's imagination with a clever blend of reality and great fiction that mirrors today's war on terrorism. The settings, well-developed characters, and the skillful plotting keep the reader on the edge of his or her seat from beginning to end. Like his other thrillers, Mitchell has conceived and written a masterpiece on par with Clancy, Grisham, and Koontz. This book should be mandatory reading for everybody in the Homeland Security Department of the U. S. Government, and all of the so-called 'black groups' in America. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition

    An Awesome Thriller

I read this book based on a recommendation from a business associate. I must say, that she was 100% correct when she said that this book was an awesome thriller! Nathan Mitchell did an impeccable job of outlining historical events. Two Heartbeats is so awesome because it actually makes the reader realize that these events (based on the pre-events of 9/11) could actually happen. His portrayal of some of the characters is both humorous and truthful. I strongly recommend this book to all 'Clancey' and 'Grishman' fans, you won't be disappointed!
