Overview

There are thousands of great books about knots. There also are many great books about bondage. However, there are few books that clearly illustrate the step-by-step process of turning great knots into great bondage. It's one thing to know how to tie an Eagle Scout's worth of sheep shanks, bowlines and clove hitches. It's another thing to know how to tie up your partner.

Putting knots to work on the human form is an entirely different animal compared to seamanship, mountaineering or crocheting — especially if you want your bondage to be safe, sensual, attractive and effective. After all: you're not tying rope — you're tying people.

When Two Knotty Boys, Dan and JD, began teaching rope bondage together in 1999, they discovered that most people learn best when they're shown — close up, step by step, and repeatedly — how to tie basic knots and combine them into bondage techniques. It is this learning process that they duplicate in this book. With the help of photographer Ken Marcus, Two Knotty Boys use photos and captions to show-not tell the soup-to-nuts techniques for turning rope into rope bondage. Forget long texts. Forget dissertations about BDSM or how to be a Dominant. There are plenty of books that cover that. Two Knotty Boys Showing You The Ropes fills the gap between books about knots and books about bondage.

Unlike videos or DVDs that must be played and memorized, Two Knotty Boys Show You The Ropes can be a bedside companion to actual bondage. With easy-to-understand captions and clear step-by-step photos, readers can learn at their own pace, review whole techniques at a single glance or even lay it flat on the table (beside their blindfolded partner) and follow along as they tie.

Meet the Author

Two Knotty Boys, Dan and JD, combine a quarter century of rope bondage experience, including tying models for world-renown fetish photographers. Rope bondage blossomed naturally from JD's former work as an industrial rigger and Dan's hobby as a climbing instructor. Meeting in 1999, as both tied applicants for a bondage-modeling contest, Dan and JD noticed their similarity of bondage styles and philosophy — and they soon teamed up as the Two Knotty Boys. Ever since, they've been performing live shows, rigging photo shoots and teaching bondage to packed workshops nationwide. Dan's years of performing stand-up comedy and JD's extensive knowledge of human physiology add to their uniquely enjoyable and informative teaching style.

Ken Marcus studied advertising photography at the Art Center College of Design and Brooks Institute of Photography and for 13 years in Yosemite National Park as the youngest student of famed landscape photographer Ansel Adams. In 1971 Ken was selected as the first American photographer for Penthouse magazine as they published their first American editions. He left Penthouse after three years to become the major contributing photographer to Playboy magazine. From 1974-'85 Ken's work was featured regularly in Playboy's 15 international editions. For eight years Ken exclusively photographed the famous Playboy Calendar. He has produced hundreds of editorials, centerfolds, covers and calendars. His glamorous nudes have received many awards and much media publicity.

I like these guys and their approach to rope work. They give you some very interesting knots to work with and as they state with a little imagination you can do a lot. Unfortunatly the format doesn't work very well in the e-book version. A little difficult at times to distinguise the end of one knot from the biggining of the other. And there fore I think it would be too confusing for a bigginer who is trying to wrap thier head around the knots. Also some of the sequences aren't as clear as they could be. I found it actually easier to study the knot and work it out then to follow the sequenced pictures. My other complaint would be there is so little difference in price between the actual book and the e- version you are better off with the real book in hand.

I had a chance to review this book both the E version and the hard copy. This is an excellent book!!! Two Knotty Boys step it up and give the novice or even experienced another tool to add to their collection. Easy to follow with lots of fun stuff to try as well as giving the basic safety tools. I recommend this book in the paper back/hard copy over the E book though. But everyone who enjoys the style of rope bondage from beginner to experienced should have Two Knotty Boys on their book list.

I suppose I should not have been surprised to find this book under "Erotica", but it was, and I was. It dwells more on the knots, with pretty simple to follow directions that, with some practice, I was usually able to follow; several of the photos do qualify as erotic. I was interested in a book on fancy knots; this book met that interest.
