Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"This comforting book offers reassurance on two counts: the surety of friendship and tackling the newness of the schoolroom. " Publishers Weekly on Chicken Chickens Go To School.
School Library Journal
PreS-Gr 1—This book is a smaller, square version of Chicken Chickens Go to School (North-South, 2003). Hand-in-hand, two little chicks embark on their first day of school. From the start, the timid youngsters express their apprehension and fear about not making any friends. Both Mother Hen and their teacher, Mrs. Heron, assure them otherwise. After several ill-timed attempts at befriending other students, the chicks find themselves eating their lunch alone. Soon a trip to the meadow by way of a rocky creek crossing becomes a catalyst for friendship. In the end the chicks have a great day and their fears are allayed. The glossy, laminated pages are tear resistant. The minimally changed artwork features the same expressive watercolor with pen-and-ink illustrations. This book is a good fit for libraries that do not own the original story.—Laura Butler, Mount Laurel Library, NJ
