Children's Literature - Vicki Foote
Characters from the animated feature film, “Kung Fu Panda,” have two adventures in this book that is part of the “Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness” series. The cartoon characters, Po, a polar bear, and Tigress have the task of taking a valuable statue back to Jade Palace. A group of Croc Bandits tries to steal it from them, and Po and Tigress fight them but end up falling off a cliff into a forest. After more descriptions of their fighting strategies, the two make it back home with the statue. The second story features Po and Mantis who have a problem when Mantis wants to pretend that he is the Dragon Warrior in order to impress his former love, Hao. Po tries to help Mantis by not fighting when the others think that Po is really the Dragon Warrior. Mantis realizes that Po is really a wonderful friend and that Hao only wanted Mantis because she thought that he was the Dragon Warrior. Black and white illustrations portray the characters throughout the book. Fans of the Kung Fu characters may enjoy the familiar high jinks and action derived from the movie. Reviewer: Vicki Foote; Ages 7 to 10.
