A coworker recommended this album to me almost 3 weeks ago, and there has not been a day gone bye that I have not listened to it atleast once. The songs are well crafted and lush, with tastes of country, rock, folk, and jazz. Paddy McAloon's smooth and warm voice is incredible, and Wendy Smith's angelic backing vocal are a nice contrast. I feel the album benifited from Thomas Dolby's work with Prefab Sprout. One of the most solid albums I have ever listened to. Unfortunately, I don't feel Prefab Sprout were able to replicate the cohesion of this album again. The song "King of Rock'n'Roll" was the closest they got to the mainstream audiences, and I have to admit that I love the song. This album is a gem.Was this review helpful?
