Purpose: The purpose is to provide a complete atlas with a review of the indications and outcomes. The updated edition is intended to inform readers about new technologies and innovations in this area of surgery.
Audience: This is intended for practicing otologists, otolaryngologists, or residents in this field. The authors are recognized world authorities.
Features: The book provides a step-by-step description of all otologic operations. Each procedure has accompanying information including indications and surgical highlights. At the end of each section, studies are shown to highlight the outcomes of the described procedures. There are over 800 illustrations and they are all necessary. A chapter at the end of the book covers the use of imaging, rules and hints for difficult aspects of some of the procedures, and the instruments used for each operation, including drills and microscopes.
Assessment: This updated edition of an extremely useful book written by one of the masters in this field has nicely incorporated new innovations. Anyone practicing in this area will find this useful.
