This story has everything: character who jump off the page, clearer than life, and the best description of a ship and her crew enduring a terrific storm. My favorite Conrad.

Conrad's masterpiece chronicles the doomed voyage of a steamer in the Indian ocean. It is full of excitement and danger, but is most successful in its portrayal of the personalities and struggles of the captain and his mate. Of all of Conrad's works, this is my favorite.

She smoothly padded over to Shadow, her crystal ice blue eyes glowing as she stood in front of Shadow. "Where do you think your going?" She chuckled.
