Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Ten-year-old scientists Banjo and Lee notice that Banjos dog Dino seems to disappear when going through his dog door. They soon go through the door themselves and discover a tunnel that leads to a forest crawling with dinosaurs. Their adventure begins as the boys decide to gather proof of the dinosaurs. Upon arrival, the boys and Dino discover exciting dinosaurs. As the boys get ready to leave, they meet some baby Tyrannosaurus Rexes. Banjo and Lee try to scare the babies away but this causes the dinosaurs parents to attack. The boys are saved by the oval-shaped robot who made the time warp tunnel. This adventure, the first in a series, nicely balances dinosaur facts with time-travel fiction. The science log at the beginning may cause a little confusion about the time frame. But once the boys are rescued from their fight with the Tyrannosaurus family, the story becomes gripping. It would make a great read-aloud to accompany of the study of dinosaurs; it would also be an amusing chapter book for third- or fourth-graders. Best of all, more adventures with Dino, Banjo and Lee are coming. Reviewer: Elizabeth Fronk
