Some of you may look at me and think, That girl's never had an insecure day in her life. Well, I think my experiences will prove that you can't always judge a book by its cover (not even this one). Some of you may look at me and think, That girl's never had an insecure day in her life. Well, I think my experiences will prove that you can't always judge a book by its cover (not even this one). I've struggled with chronic warts, poor body image and one too many broken hearts on the road to supermodel status. And I know all about pressure we're put under to be perfect. That's why I wrote this book. Between the life lessons I've learned and the practical tips I've added from my friends in the fashion biz, this book will show you how to look and feel beautiful — inside and out.
Skin: How to get and keep that skin of yours glowing, from sun care to zit-zappers, from body art to body piercing.
Makeup: From keeping it real and natural to taking a walk on the wild side.
Hair: The Lowdown on dyes, cuts and styles, from waves to weaves.
Health: Working out, eating right and dealing with days when you're too pooped to pump iron.
Fashion: Stylin' and profilin', from hot trends to classic chic, designer habits to great fakes.
Alcohol and Drugs: On kicking bad habits, avoiding temptation and the path to reaching a natural high.
Relationships: Straight talk from girls' hearts and souls on good love, bad breakups and making a love connection that lasts.
Self-loving: Learning to accept the fool in you, as well as the part that got it goin' on.
Tyra Banks: Hi, ya'll!
Tyra Banks: I'm in sunny L.A.!
Tyra Banks: Well, I firmly believe that people should not sleep in their makeup. And the second thing is I wash it twice a day, morning and night. I have really dry skin, so I slather it with moisturizer.
Tyra Banks: I love to dance! I get all hot and sweaty, and to whoever asks me to dance, I'll say yes! But don't think that you'll get me to go on a date with you just because we're dancing together.
Tyra Banks: I would probably be a film director and writer. I got accepted to five universities for film production.
Tyra Banks: I am nowhere near a vegetarian. My favorite food is baby-back barbecued ribs!
Tyra Banks: Well, it's easier said than done. But in my new book, TYRA'S BEAUTY INSIDE & OUT, I address those issues. The fashion industry does have a major role in causing young girls to have eating disorders. But I try to tell young girls to read the magazine as entertainment. Read the articles, enjoy the pictures, then put the magazine down, literally and figuratively. Just like when young boys go to watch Michael Jordan play basketball and score 50 points in one game. They don't become insecure and down on themselves because they can't do the same.
Tyra Banks: Success is just personal happiness. There are so many people that are in the top of their field, but they're still not happy and don't feel successful. I'd be happy if I was a street-sweeper, a schoolteacher, or a supermodel.
Tyra Banks: My type of man is someone that is strong, not intimidated by me. Someone that I can have fun with. Someone with an old soul and a young heart.
Tyra Banks: I was that little girl ten years ago, and I was very unhappy with my physical self. And what I did was, I concentrated on my schooling. I was a 4.0 student, at the top of my class. I suggest telling your daughter that it's a phase that every young woman goes through, whether overweight or underweight, but everyone goes through it. Look in the mirror and find one thing that's beautiful about you. Find it and accentuate it and be proud of it. Each year, you will find another thing to accentuate, until one day you will love all of yourself!
Tyra Banks: My favorite part is being in control of my schedule. My least favorite part is having to travel all over the world and not having a sense of a true home.
Tyra Banks: I've already done two movies: "Higher Learning" and another independent movie that hasn't been released. And this year I'll probably be doing another.
Tyra Banks: I make sure I set time aside for myself to relax and reflect. I always remember where I came from, and I give back to so many organizations because I feel so blessed and feel a responsibility to share with others.
Tyra Banks: I wake up around 7am, no matter what I have to do. And I usually go to bed around 11pm. I am by no means a party girl. I'm more like a homebody!
Tyra Banks: I don't know about that one! They're all so wacky they sort of blur together.
Tyra Banks: Two things: The first is being the first black woman on the cover of Sports Illustrated, and the second is completing my book, because it's the hardest thing I've had to do in my life. It took two whole years to complete! So I want all of ya'll to go out and get it so all my hard work will pay off! [laughs]
Tyra Banks: Thank you! Goodnight!

This book helps you to celebrate who you are, no matter WHO you are. Women of all ages can take something out of this book. Tyra's book is especially wonderful for the ethnic reader. The book teaches you to reach down and love who you are no matter what your race, size or circumstances in life may be. Tyra is more then a supermodel. Was this review helpful?
