    A one of a kind

My 14 year old cousin lent me the series to me and recommended I read it when it first came out. I was hesitant for the longest time, thinking a book that appealed to a 14 year old wasn't going to be very interesting to me, but I was really wrong. From the first page I couldn't put it down. Westerfield does an amazing job of creating a unique look into what the future of the world could be like while tackling issues on body image, social hierarchy, and environmental issues. I was amazed at the complexity of the characters that brought the story to life. Never have I went back and forth between loving and hating a character, while always being on their side.

Westerfield's unique writing style caught me off guard in the fourth book of the "trilogy" when the story begins three years after the end of the third book and with a new main character. However I was pleasantly surprised how well written and how essential the spin of was the the total story. The Uglies series is definitely a must read!

    Remarkable

Within reading the first few chapters, I was hooked.I only wish that instead of a new character, Westerfeld would've stuck to Tally Youngblood's story.

The book practically took over my mind, I was a reading machine engulfing every word. And for reading machines like me out there, this series is a feast for your mind. I highly recommend for ages 12-17!

The series has the perfect mix of adventure, young love, and emotion. I can't wait to begin on more of Westerfeld's books!

    Brilliant, But Maddening

Scott Westerfeld is a great author who is an absolute genius for writing a series such as Uglies. It is a truly original story that will suck you right in. Unfortunately, when you do get sucked in, you might start to get incredibly angry with the stupidity of the characters. They're all very well-written characters, it's just that they make tons of stupid decisions that made me feel like yelling and screaming at the printed words on the page. I suppose that's a good thing, that a book can be realistic enough to make a reader feel an emotion such as anger, but often those kinds of books are ones that I don't want to re-read. I sort of suffered through the whole series with an angry knot in my stomach because I just needed to know how it would end. Again, a great read plot-wise, but let me just say that if Tally Youngblood were a real person, I'm pretty sure I would hate her.

its a must! you JUST WANT TO KEEP READING EVERYPAGE

Love it! It might be challenging for younger readers though... you really need to have a good imagination, and fully understand what's going on. You'll learn a lot about society, government etc. it would be cool to have it as an in-class reading book... it would spark up lots of discussion. it also delivers a change from the vampire fiction stories that are everywhere today. Don't get me wrong, I love vampires,But when you kind of just need a break from the supernatural, pick up this book and give it a try. The plot was excellent. I wish I could have a *SPOILERS* hoverboard! this book is nice and appropriate .
