Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jeanna Sciarrotta
Ugly town is simply chock full of eating options, and the Ugly Dolls are here to help readers navigate it. Whether one is looking to eat in, order out, or just have a chuckle, the Ugly Dolls have the answer. The guide is divided into dining categories and can be read straight through or flipped through on a whim. Any follower of the "Ugly Doll" collection will delight in the quirky cartoon dolls and enjoy the sidebar comments and brightly colored illustrations. For those readers just picking up the book for an interesting read, however, there is little point to the guide. A nonfan will find the book to be nonsense. It is neither informative nor is it entertaining. Although the pictures are colorful and cartoonish and will likely draw in an adolescent audience, the younger reader will be sadly disappointed. It is clearly written for those who have become fans of the "Ugly Doll" books, but it has little relevance for the rest of the reading world. Reviewer: Jeanna Sciarrotta
