Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Guides to adult videos should provide intelligent background on the medium, review selected videos in different subgenres, and supply such reference book accouterments as a resources list, bibliography, and indexes. Blue (The Ultimate Guide to Cunnilingus; The Ultimate Guide to Fellatio) delivers on all counts-and provides a glossary to boot-reviewing more than 300 videos ranging from classics (Deep Throat) and gay/lesbian/bisexual features to all-sex, sadomasochistic, and educational flicks. Her supporting information is outstanding: how to watch porn (alone and with a partner), how to select videos, subgenres and clich s, issues like degradation and age of consent, and safer sex in porn; the resource list and bibliography are equally good. Blue falters only in failing to give more coverage to the expanding variety of erotic Japanese anime now available in the United States (for that, see Helen McCarthy and Jonathan Clements's solid, if dated, The Erotic Anime Movie Guide). For larger public libraries; smaller and more cautious libraries might prefer Cathy Winks's much briefer, though less current, The Good Vibrations Guide: Adult Videos, with its soft-toned cover and focus on the selection process and the industry itself.-Martha Cornog, Philadelphia Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
