The Ultimate Guide To the Daniel Fast by Kristen Feola is a wonderful book to help you prepare for participation in a Daniel Fast. This concise and very well organized book is a great tool and companion as you navigate this fasting practice. The fact that the author is a nutritional consultant and a fitness instructor give her words even more merit. The book clearly defines what fasting is and what fasting is not. The author also goes on to outline the different types of fasting. She discusses the importance of spiritual preparation and physical prepartion prior to embarking on the Daniel Fast, during the fast, and in the days after the fast. There is a complete section of twenty-one heart felt daily devotions that can be used as a springboard to deepen your spiritual focus throughout the fasting period. Finally, there is a meal preparation section complete with recipes that are Daniel Fast approved. The recipes are easy to follow and very user friendly. This is one book that I will definitely be keeping close at hand. I have completed the Daniel Fast twice in the past, but I spent a great deal of my time trying to figure out what I could eat and what I shouldn't eat. This book takes the mystery right out of it and places the emphasis on the Lord and your journey with Him. The planning section will allow for your fast to be a time of prayerful retreat rather than a time of disordered confusion ending in failure. Kristen Feola's encouraging words are a must read for anyone who is wanting to grow close to the Lord and take part in a Daniel Fast.

Please see full review on Amazon... If I could describe this book in one word, it would be WONDERFUL. Meaning, full of Wonder(s)...miracles on the plate, in my mouth, in my mind, and in my heart... Could one buy this book just for the 21 days of devotions inside and be pleased? Yes. Could one buy this book just for the amazing, natural, unprocessed and tasty recipes inside and be pleased? Yes. However, with both resources at your fingertips, why would you only utilize one portion?!? I will not go into the long story of how this book came into my hands, but trust me, that was a miracle in itself. I literally heard about it on a Saturday and won it on a radio show the next Wednesday...having only found out about the radio show the night before...but again, I'll save you the details. Just know that it was evidence to me that I was indeed supposed to do this. I am already a pretty healthy eater. I am a professional singer/dancer and a Christ-centered yoga teacher who promotes the ideas of whole foods, juicing, raw food, small lists of ingredients on labels, etc...but I do live in this world and indulge in the "other stuff" from time to time. With all of that activity, you might expect me to look like one of those fitness cover models, but I don't...in fact, over the last few years, I have accumulated and kept that "last 10 pounds" so many are plagued with... I wanted this book so that I could really HEAR what God was trying to say to me about not only my habits, but perhaps my Christ-centered yoga business, my family, or anyone else that maybe I was needing to pray for! I did know beyond the shadow of a doubt that I needed to tune in. I heard the author on the radio show and was touched about her description of fasting as an outward activity just as much or more so than inward. It's not just some diet you go on, and it's not just something you do as a method hoping to get some miracle or revelation from God...It is something you do as an act of Devotion, perhaps in order to bless others through intercessory prayer, or to really draw closer to God in your dependence on Him through this time...and then, yes, I would say it is not unusual for some kind of "breakthrough" to happen in your life! But rest assured, it is the kind of breakthrough you need, not just what you want...but the funny thing is, I would bet just about anything to say that by the time you receive "it", you realize how much it is EXACTLY what you need AND want...(Funny how a loving Father likes to do that...) But back to the book! The pictures are beautiful; the devotions are RIGHT ON. During my 21 days, I did not have a single bad recipe. There is an optional meal plan provided, but there are so many recipes included in the book that you can switch things out for other things that look more appealing to you. There are even recipes never used in the meal plan...and one thinks, wow! I can't wait to use those later, too! (please see rest of review on Amazon under same title...) Be blessed!

This year was my first time participating in the Daniel Fast and my whole family decided to join in as well (8 of us). The book explained the fast, the history behind it, and lots of information on how to prepare, and successfully make it through 21 days with no meat, sugar and processed foods. I have a 15 year old son that likes very few vegetables, so this fast was a huge sacrifice for him. To his surprise, he enjoyed most of the recipes I prepared. I think his favorites were the flatbread pizza and fruit pizza. Today is day 22 and we have decided to keep these healthy habits with the addition of meat as a side dish. I will continue using the recipes in this book as a resource for meals and snacks so we can continue enjoying the fringe benefits of this fast.......more energy, better focus and a much healthier sense of well being.

I have been researching for Daniel Fast information online. I was reading & reading but I felt uneasy about process of this fasting. I had few questions & this book completed my search. This book gave me a better picture no I mean better blue print for 21 day fasting. I am not a good cook & not so sure if I will try any recepies but all sounds good. I really liked the section where what kind of food I should eat or not and additional information boxes are great too. I would not know the different terms of corn syrup until I read this book. Thank you for a great book Kristen!

The Ultimate Guide to the Daniel Fast, by Kristen Feola, is more than a cookbook. It’s a complete guide to the fast, the focus, and the food. It gives a compelling description on what fasting is and what it isn’t. It gave me a deeper insight into the Biblical reason for fasting along with the different types of fasts. The Daniel fast is for anyone who desires a deeper connection with the Lord and is willing to commit to a three-week fast with the result of pursuing a deeper connection with God. This book is broken down into 3 parts. The first is about the fast, the second is about the focus, and the last is about the food. I must admit that I’m most excited about the food section. I’m sold on the benefits of fasting, but am intimidated by the practical, day-to-day meal planning. The food section includes weekly suggested meal plans along with preparation tips. The recipes cover breakfast items, appetizers, snacks, salads, salad dressings, soups, vegetables, and main dishes. There are also a few photos of the food items in the center section of the book. I’m prayerfully considering participating in the Daniel Fast in the New Year. I know one thing for sure, I will use the recipes included in this book! I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze®.com book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

The content of this devotional is wonderful. Very helpful in following the fast, and the recipes are great. The Nook book format, however, is messed up. Sections from other days' devotions are inserted into the middle of other days' devotions, and it makes thing quite confusing to try and figure out exactly what is suppose to be included in that day's reading. This was very frustrating and disappointing. I did write to the author to let her know about it, and she replied that she would notify the publisher, so hopefully this will be fixed soon. I may just buy the regular book, as I plan to do this fast again in the future.

Because of the delicious recipes so far, we've barely felt like we given up on our favorite foods of carbs and meats. DELICIOUS! The only problem I had with this book was not being able to make my "notes" using the title of the recipes because they are set as hyperlinks to bring you back to the table of contents. I use my notes as a list of recipes I'd like to try again.

I love the fact that it has recipes, meal plans, devotions all included in this book. It's been quite the encouragement for me as I continue to work through these three weeks on the Daniel Fast.
