Editorial Reviews
All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Ultimate Hip-Hop Party 1998 is an entertaining 18-track collection featuring some of the most popular rappers and urban vocalists of the mid-'90s, including Lil' Kim, A Tribe Called Quest, the Notorious B.I.G., R. Kelly, Junior M.A.F.I.A., Brandy, 112, Tony! Toni! Toné!, L.L. Cool J, Deborah Cox, Monica, D'Angelo, Faith Evans and Wu-Tang Clan. The album is fun, but collectors should know that all the tracks are sequenced together in an attempt to replicate the sound of a club. For a house party, that isn't a detriment, but home listeners may find the segues annoying.
