    Love this series of Hawaii Guidebooks

    We've been going to Hawaii since 1983 -- used lots of guide books over the years. This series is THE BEST. We have used Maui, Big Island, and Kauai. We found places on Kauai that we had never seen -- from their book -- and we had a condo there for 14 years!! Get their latest edition when you go there.     The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook

    This is a MUST HAVE book if you are going to Kauai. We first went 4 years ago and bought an earlier version of this guidebook and it made our trip so much more enjoyable! The author is very down to earth and he tells you the truth about hotels, restaurants and beaches. He also tells you about hidden trails and deserted beaches and lots of neat places to go that you'd never know about otherwise. We are going back in June and I just bought the newest edition of the book.

    Do not travel to Kauai without this book!

    This book is awesome! I just spent a month in Kauai and did not go anywhere without it! I found the reviews to be right on track. The author is VERY honest and won't sugar coat anything. Definitely a must have!

    Sends a bad message

    Unfunny to those of us who are Hawaiian. The history information is twisted and downright wrong. Come to Kauai without this book.

    Buyer beware!

    Aloha mai. I've lived on Kaua'i my entire life and just got this book to understand where our visitors our getting their information. I was shocked to see how much misinformation and falsehoods it contains. I began aking around our community and found it is widely held by residents to be culturally inappropriate and exploitative of this very special place. And it can lead you to some places that are downright unsafe. Please don't use this book.

    Would Definitely Recommend

    This is a great book to find some of the more out of the way places. If you want to go off the beaten path and see where a lot of the locals go, this book is great. Have been to Kauai two other times and discovered new places we have never been before. Also the activity recommendations were spot on. You spend all that money to go to paradise, spending a few more dollars for a tour guide in this book is worth it.

    Concise, practical, & easy to use

    Well written, easy to read. Provides solid local information without falling into the trap of becoming loaded down with local arcane infromation. Excellent resource for the 5 to 10 day visitor.

    Don't leave home without it!

    I discovered Andrew Doughty a few year's back, when I purchased his guidebook, Maui Revealed. When booking my trip to Kauai, my first step was look for one of Andrew's guidebooks. His are the most useful guidebooks I have ever used and I have used the "others" when traveling to Barcelona, Rome, Cannes, Malta and Jerusalem. He provides his insight and guidance, while "other" guidebook seem to just recap information the can be found on the destinations'/vendors' brochures.

    A must have!

    We bought this and sent it to each of our kids before our first trip to Kauai (we had bought the Oahua Revealed during that trip). We looked at this book for everything we did, used it for meals, shopping, sightseeing, hiking and beaches. We used it for general education about the island as well. Really helped us get the most out of our trip. We are planning a trip to the big island this summer and will definetly be purchasing the book on that next. We just got back from Kauai last week and I don't think we would have had such a memorable time unless we had used this reference book.

    Outstanding Guidebook

    I've been to Hawaii many times, and I always use these guidebooks. They are by far the best I have ever used. The details are extremely useful, the reviews honest and the tips are invaluable. This book gives you very precise directions, with useful commentary I have never found in any other guidebook. The maps are so detailed and useful. It would be hard to get lost if you have this book with you. You can tell the author has actually been to the places he describes which helps in so many different ways. Plus, the books points out small places to stop that are off the beaten path, or places you would probably never know about without this book. Even though I have been to Hawaii many times, I would never go without one of these guidebooks.

    Best Book Available & I lived there

    I was fortunate enough to live on Kauai for a few years. I've read all of the books and this is the only one I recommend to friends and family. I used it while I lived there and it was always accurate, helpful and made for much better adventures. It won't take you anywhere but the best spots on the island. I got to know more places than many of my friends who grew up on the island. If you want to see the real Kauai, this book is for you.

    Best Guidebook on Kaua'i

    The Ultimate Kaua'i Guidebook is very informative. The pictures are very nice, and the reviews are intriguing. It was my first time going to Kaua'i and the guidebook helped me plan a wonderful vacation. I recommend this guidebook to anyone who is going to Kaua'i. It reviews everything from Hazards to Luaus. Get your copy today, ASAP!!!!!

    Best Guidebook I've Found

    My only complaint is they seem to only do books on Hawaii (which I have the others as well). They're all great! Very straightforward and written as if you're talking to a friend and they're giving you tips. It's a funny guidebook that it insightful and written in a friendly, easy to understand manner. It has gotten me even more excited for my upcoming trip. I HIGHLY recommend this book!

    A visit to the Island

    The book was helpful. I am not sure he actually lives on the island. Be careful about all the places he sends you. Some things are not what they seem. The restaurants we ate in served good seafood. Most places lacked in service. The worst service we received was at The Gaylord Restuarant. The food is not good enough to endure the bad service.
    This was my only guidebook.

    Ultimate Kauai Guidebook, a superior guide to Paradise

    I use this book every time we go to Kauai. It is the best book on Kauai I've found. Kauai has lots of interesting places to visit and this book is the most inclusive book I know. Enjoy Kauai to the fullest extent by using this guidebook. Aloha.
