A modern retelling of spiderman. Perfect for die hard spidey fans like myself. If you are new to comics this is a great jumping on point.

I really liked this story. Yes, it is a retelling of Amazing Fantasy 15, but it is told in a different format, but told from a different POV. The villian isn't really well esablished, though. It felt like BMS was focusing too much on Spidey's origin than the villian. In some pannels, it felt like the writer was trying to shove in as much as he could. The art is fantastinc (Mark Bagley is fantastic.) and the face experssions tell everything. The real reason why I love Ultimate so much, is that, unlike Amazing, you can collect all the issues. It's great. PS To it's nothing like the TV series. Luckily.

artwork was vibrant, story was good... though I am getting a little tired of everyone making new origins for the same heroes over and over. Was incredible to read it on the Nook HD+ and I definitely plan on getting more of the "Ultimate" titles.

Brian Michael Bendis and veteran Mark Bagely have truely outdone themselves as they reintroduce one of the most well known characters in comics. This version not only creates an entirely different universe in Marvel's Multiverse, but reimagines Peter Parker and friends into a slightly hipper and more modern versions of their counterparts. I highly recommend this book.

As opposed to the frequently ridicuous What If? and Elseworlds titles, the Ultimate universe is modern retelling of several classic marvel stories. USM is the first of these titles and provides a fresh take on the somewhat stale origin of Spider-Man.

Ultimate Spiderman volume one is great. It has all the action and suspense a spiderman novel needs to have. The only difference from his beginning now than in Amazing Fantasy, is that Ultimate Spiderman is at least 100 pages longer! Ultimate Spiderman, Power and Responsibility mainly focusses on Peter becoming Spiderman and how he has to deal with his powers. Just as uncle Ben said, With Great power comes great responsibiblty. The only downfall, I thought, was how some of the characters have changed almost too much. Mary Jane is now a genius and uncle Ben has a pony tail? But, these changed hardly make a difference because Ultimate Spiderman volume 1, is definetly worth reading!
