    Worth the read.

As opposed to the frequently ridicuous What If? and Elseworlds titles, the Ultimate universe is modern retelling of several classic marvel stories. USM is the first of these titles and provides a fresh take on the somewhat stale origin of Spider-Man.

The best version of spiderman ever.

A modern retelling of spiderman. Perfect for die hard spidey fans like myself. If you are new to comics this is a great jumping on point.

    Ultimate Spiderman

Brian Michael Bendis and veteran Mark Bagely have truely outdone themselves as they reintroduce one of the most well known characters in comics. This version not only creates an entirely different universe in Marvel's Multiverse, but reimagines Peter Parker and friends into a slightly hipper and more modern versions of their counterparts. I highly recommend this book.

    ULTIMATE

I really liked this story. Yes, it is a retelling of Amazing Fantasy 15, but it is told in a different format, but told from a different POV. The villian isn't really well esablished, though. It felt like BMS was focusing too much on Spidey's origin than the villian. In some pannels, it felt like the writer was trying to shove in as much as he could. The art is fantastinc (Mark Bagley is fantastic.) and the face experssions tell everything. The real reason why I love Ultimate so much, is that, unlike Amazing, you can collect all the issues. It's great. PS To it's nothing like the TV series. Luckily.

    Needs Better Viewer

There needs to be a better viewer to read this comic on the Nook. Something like Comixology or Graphicly offers.

    Looking forward to Vol 2!

artwork was vibrant, story was good... though I am getting a little tired of everyone making new origins for the same heroes over and over. Was incredible to read it on the Nook HD+ and I definitely plan on getting more of the "Ultimate" titles.

"Ultimate Spider-Man Volume 1" Book Review

This is by far the worst comic I've ever read in my entire life.
The book claims to be trying to attract new readers to the Marvel universe. The problem with that statement is that, first of all, this stoey basically takes everything that might attract a kid to Spider-Man and throw it out the window. Plus, it seems like all Marvel does these days is try to attract new reader's ( kids, probally ) by launching new titles. I wouldn't have any problem with this if they didn't do it so frequently and so unsuccessfully. I mean, look at DC. They had the balls to completely reeboot the entire company and it worked really well. The writer manages to turn Peter Parker, normally a very likeable character and turn him into an annoying, unlikeable pubescent teen who, when he discovers his powers, actually declares, "WHOA. Cool." First of all, no one talks like that and, even if they did, no writer in his right mind would write it. The whole supporting cast is awfull too, especially Mary Jane who is no longer even remotely interesting like she was in the original comics. The art is pretty bad too, it looks like cartoonish people with stretched out faces. All in all, this entire series should not be read by anyone who considers themselves a Spider-Man fan.
