Representing 30 industries, this directory briefly lists 1350 businesses that entrepreneurs might be interested in starting. Each entry includes a rating based on ease of start-up, estimated cost and income potential, online opportunity, whether the business could be home based, potential legal issues, skills needed, part-time possibilities, and the franchise or licensing potential. The businesses cover a wide range of commercial ideas, from seed packaging, tree-house kits, cooking classes, chimney cleaning, and vitamin sales to graffiti removal, online lotteries, children's toys, art galleries, and bumper stickers. Readers learn how to market and advertise their business and how to secure paying customers and build competitive advantages. Real business advice and real business opportunities will help entrepreneurs identify and understand the best new business venture for them. Entrepreneur's ultimate Start Up Directory is without question the best small business resource book I have come across in my more than twenty years of teaching small business classes. The author has a knack for boiling down what shoud be very lengthy explanations into super informative and well-crafted word bytes that speak volumes. This book is now required reading for my students and the basis for in-class discussions and phantom business plan assignments. Of great importance is the fact that the start up ideas contained within the book are real world businesses. There are no assumptions, no wacky ideas or what ifs? Just useful information such as how much the business will cost to start and what the realistic profit expectations are. Additionally, I really like that the author has taken the time to rate all of the featured businesses on a sliding scale of one to four stars based on today's business and economic data and conditions like legal requirements, special skills to operate, and market opportunities. This is the type of information that you would expect when discussing one particular business or industry in a single book. Not in excess of 1300 business opportunities in some thirty industries all nicely wrapped up into one big book. Once again the author has accomplished this by cutting to the chase and editing out the useless fluff found in so many of today's business books. This is the real McCoy.

As a small business owner I am always on the lookout for ways to increase sales and expand my business. I found this book extreamly useful for both. Not only did I discover ways to help bolster existing sales, but also add-on business opportunities that compliment my business. This book is well written, packed full of useful resources, and a must for any person that is in business or considering starting a business.
