ZZ Packer
ZZ Packer
Named one of the writers to watch in Book magazine's special "Newcomers" issue, ZZ Packer is quickly becoming known as a literary wunderkind with a talent for writing short fiction that goes a long way, as is evident in her debut collection, Drinking Coffee Elsewhere.

Biography

Born in Chicago, ZZ Packer grew up in Atlanta and Louisville, Kentucky. She garnered national attention after one of her stories appeared in the 2000 New Yorker Debut Fiction issue. The story was later included in her debut collection, Drinking Coffee Elsewhere (2003), a finalist for the 2004 PEN/Faulkner Award.

In addition to The New Yorker, Packer's stories have appeared in Harper's, Story, Ploughshares, Zoetrope and been selected for The Best American Short Stories series. In 2007, Granta named her one of the Best Young American Novelists and in 2010 she was included in The New Yorker's "20 under 40" selection of fiction writers who are, or will be, central to their generation.
