Meet the Author

Beginning his career in animation working on such films as The Iron Giant, Anastasia and Titan A.E., Rick Remender has become a comic-book triple threat - writing, penciling and inking numerous fan-favorite series. Remender served as writer on hit video games Dead Space and Bulletstorm, while providing art for punk/metal bands like NOFX and 3 Inches of Blood. He's co-created many popular independent titles, including the critically acclaimed Fear Agent with longtime collaborators Tony Moore and Jerome Opeña. His time at Marvel started on Punisher and has since led to well-received runs on Uncanny X-Force and Venom.

Spanish illustrator Daniel Acuña began his professional career with the publication of the French series Claus and Simon, later reprinted by the popular American magazine Heavy Metal. Acuña then burst on to the American comics scene with DC's Green Lantern and Flash. For Marvel, he has illustrated such popular series as Young X-Men, Eternals, Black Widow, X-Men Legacy, Avengers, New Avengers and Wolverine.

For fans of Remender's run on Uncanny X-Force, this collection continues from the Dark Angel Saga. Highly recommended to fans of the Avengers, X-Men, and just great story telling in general.

I'd heard a lot of hype surrounding Uncanny Avengers of the last few months, and, after loving volume 1, decided to pick this one up. I'll be honest and say I was disappointed: this volume, while not bad, was nowhere near the amazing level of quality of The Red Shadow. This time around, we're treated to new villains the Apocalypse Twins who, while creative, still don't feel all that interesting. The threat here is big and the story spans time and space...but sometimes that broadness comes off as overwhelming and all the pieces seem to move haphazardly. The artwork is decent: neither great nor terrible. If you're deep into Uncanny Avengers, you can't miss this collection. Still, if you aren't too committed to the series, you won't miss much by avoiding it.
