Meet the Author

Simon Dillon was born the year Steven Spielberg made moviegoers everywhere terrified of sharks, namely 1975. He lived the first twenty or so years of his life in Oxford, and was pleased to have spent so much time in the place where some of his favourite writers wrote their greatest works (including JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis and Phillip Pullman). Things went gradually downhill from there as he attended University in Southampton and afterwards managed to muddle his way into television where he has worked ever since. Simon Dillon likes to think he can write a diverting story, and as a result has penned a few novels. He might be sadly deluded, but that’s for agents and publishers to decide. He currently lives in Plymouth in the UK, and is married with two children. He is looking forward to brainwashing them with the same books that he loved growing up.

The BEST book I have downloaded so far!

Don't pass this one by. I'm not going to say much about the book in case I give anything away, but will tell you that I am very ill and mostly homebound. I read 2-4 books a day or more and have been burning through the free NOOKbooks. This is the absolute BEST. Doesn't matter what type of fiction you like to read, I imagine this book could capture just about anyone's attention - and heart.

    Exciting!

As an elementary school librarian, I read a lot of kids books. This is one that will surely satisfy action/adventure appetites. There is a mystery left unsolved for the reader to puzzle through, so if you are someone who likes all loose ends tied neatly, you will not be happy with this book. Wish it could be had in print so I could purchase for my library.

    Really Great

What a wonderful book for young readers and anyone else who loves a book with a great twist on an amazing story of courage over fear. I would love to see a second book with answers to the mystery.

    Quick read, fast paced

I was open minded about the young character Max. Not expecting the anxieties and youthfulness to be shown together. It made me cheer. There were times I thought Max talked too "adult-like" but that was just a few times during the story. Over-all I believe young and old will enjoy the adventures of Max.
Would like to see him again in another trip/adventure.

    AN AWSOME ADVENTURE!!!

This book was totally awsome! It' s about an eleven year old boy who gets scared a little too much. He can' t climb trees or go to new houses or tight places and he has to have his parents with him or he' ll freak out. Then one day his uncle unexpectently comes for a visit. Max finds himself climbing walls, trapping panthers, camping in unknown places, exploring cramped caves and more! A totally adventurus book with an unexpectent ending.
