Meet the Author

After two less-than-stellar attempts at home economics in 7th and 9th grades, Stephanie's talented mom probably feared that the creative gene had skipped a generation. Stephanie preferred playing softball and running track.

Fast-forward to the early 1990s and Stephanie was married with two small children, living in Japan and needing Halloween costumes. She finally learned to sew and discovered a newfound love for quilting. She learned the sewing basics, and then took the first quilting class offered at the military base's recreation center.

A decade later, Stephanie was living in Pickerington, Ohio; her kids were in college and she learned about Etsy and blogs from her daughter. With her daughter's encouragement and help, she set up Loft Creations and started selling handmade items.

Stephanie's style is an eclectic mix, and she's a proud lover of buttons, polka dots, and all things tea. She's lucky to have the support of her family and friends. Happiness to her is sipping tea and sewing with her dear dog, Abby, by her side. Through her sewing journey, Stephanie has learned that handmade is best!

Corduroy is not something I would have considered for quilting projects. I have always found the fabric to be too bulky for my tastes but if you want to create with this fabric, this book will help you along.

17 projects can be found made of corduroy. Bags, scarves and quilts are the types of patterns. Each gives the finished size and a picture of the item. A blurb about the item is then found. The materials and cutting lists are next. The written instructions have a few graphics so be sure to read carefully when sewing. Any templates needed are provided at full size so no need to run out to make an enlargement of the template.

The items can be made using other fabrics than corduroy so if you find you like the projects but not the idea of the fabric, simply make it with the material of your choice. As in all things creative--- BE CREATIVE!

That is what I intend to do. I love the projects but don’t have corduroy on hand but do have LOTS of cotton fabric. Whether you sew with the fabrics suggested by the author or use you own, this book will help you make beautiful items.
