Dying of kidney disease, Joe spends his last days serving fatherless children in an under resourced community. Observing Papa Joe’s tireless love for “his kids,” Sam begins to find new purpose until she comes face to face with her heart’s desire. The innocence and hope of a child competes with the lure of revenge in an effort to show Sam how, even in life’s darkest of circumstances, Love is above all.

The movie was great movie. I didnt even know that here was a book until i just searched 'Unconditional'. I am defenitnlty going to buy this book. I love Samantha Crawford and Joe Bradford who is also known as 'Papa Joe'. The movie takes you on a journey through Samantha's, Papa Joe's, and these two kids lives. Not only does the movie show the currentpart of their lives, but it also shows you what happened in the past. Like how they became friends or how in someway Samanthas ALWAYS saving Papa Joe. Or the scary painful memory of Billy Crawford(Samanthas Husband) laying dead on the floor in an alley. Papa Joe has a kidney problem but doesnt let that get in the way of him helping kids that are growing up without their biological father. Samantha is dealing with her husbands death still, and will not rest until she finds his killer. Will she find the killer or not? The movie is totally life changing. Also Papa Joe has a helper for the group they started together. Her name is Denise. Watch the movie or read the book to see how Denise impacts Joes life. And how Joe, and the two kids help Samantha with getting over her husbands death.
<p> FACT-Do you know 28% of kids in the US are growing up without their biological father?

This book starts with a heart-wrenching story of a short-lived marriage between Billy and Samantha Crawford until a bullet took Billy’s life. Eva has written with clarity the life Samantha was living as a recluse after her husband died. It’s heart-rending, deep and personal. You can easily put yourself in her shoes as she drowns herself in grief. No one being able to pull her out of herself.
Before his death, she was a daydreaming children’s book writer. Her mischievous ways followed her into her marriage with Billy. The scenes are hilarious and have you relishing the scenes. The romance is exquisite!
While rescuing a young child hit by a car, Eva subsequently renews her friendship with her old friend, Joe Bradford, from grade school. Though both were shunned in school, they had become fast friends. He was African-American and she was Caucasian. Eva brings Samantha back to life through the life of Joe in ways one would never expect. It’s heartwarming and delightful.
This book, Unconditional, is a powerful story of love triumphing over tragedy. God is ever close throughout the circumstances–only a prayer away!

The challenge I’m facing here is how to write this review in such a way that I do it justice without seeming to overstate its significance. For I do think that Eva Marie Everson has created a significant piece of fiction, destined to be an enduring, award-winning novel. With her authentic prose she weaves together the lives of her memorable, endearing characters. There is nothing contrived or predictable about their story. Universal themes weave throughout, one in particular, man’s search for purpose and meaning in life in spite of the sunshine and rain that falls on everyone. This story has a positive message of hope, without being preachy, which springs from the depth of the characters. Samantha Crawford and Papa Joe create meaning in their everyday lives in spite of personal tragedy and heartache. I laughed and cried as I read their moving story. I couldn’t put it down after I began reading it. And I’m quite confident it will be one of those rare novels that I will read again and again. Was this review helpful?
