Meet the Author

Eve Asbury (ST Romance), Gayle Eden (Sensual Romance) Nikki Rush/ B.D. Dillon (Urban Fantasy/Fantasy/ & Mystery/Suspense) are the pen names of one versitile author. After establishing herself with readers while under contract with seven e-publishers in early 2004-2007, she went on to co-op with several other successful authors before moving into Indie Publishing in 2010. She has had numerous titles on bestseller lists with many novels receiving accolades from various romance review sites.
She currently lives in the southeast, surrounded by the Holston River, with her husband of 33 years. When not absorbed by the characters who constantly intrigue her, she enjoys getting together with her two children, son-in-law, daughter-in-law and six grandchildren, and also spends time blogging and networking, always keeping in touch with her core group of fans who have stood with her through the years. An author who believes in storytelling, and in love and passion, she says she always trusts the characters to tell her "their" story, and is as fascinated by how it plays out as the reader.

This book is a wonderful romance novel that captures the essence of, what I believe, is the beauty of a role reversal romance. Since I want other interested readers to get this free book and read it, I won't go into any detail. As for the other comments that this book was short, I did not fully understand what the other readers meant by short. This novel, or novella, is a good 244 pages long. I highly recommend that you read this book. I might only be eighteen but I have very good taste in books, Nora Roberts anyone; or so I think. Sorry this so long, but I have an opinion do not alwatys get to express it.

This is one of the best era romances I have ever read. I have read it twice. It has so much depth and solid character development. I would give it 10 stars. The premise is a sort of arranged marriage between Damien and Kate. They never meet before the wedding and only know of each other what they have been told. Kate is in her time an early feminist. Her father died and she is unable to do the things she wishes as woman are not permitted. She is a woman of 'intellect and reason' hiding her emotions and feelings behind it. Damien was raised considered a bastard of that time. When his father died he left a will claiming him and conditions he marry, have an heir, and conform to 'polite society'. Both agree to this marriage with completely different expectations and agendas. The development and transformations of these characters are well shown by this author. The sex is perfectly placed and not only blends with the story but enhances it. If you are looking for a romance with much substance, this is it! If you are looking for 'fluff' and superficial - this is not it. I will be looking for more from this author.

I wasn't for sure at first this would be a good book the way it started out. Put after reading it, it allowed me to see a really great author. The concept of this book is amazing!!!

This book had just the right amount of conflict, secrets, romance, and intrigue. The author wrote it well- her words, descriptions, characters, dialog - all blended nicely and made for an enjoyable read. 3.5 - 4.0

To Gayle: This sexy, love story has great bones. However, as I was reading, I kept stumbling over the run-on sentences, misplaced modifiers and sentence fragments. As I tell my students, it is important to not just use spell-checker, but to also proofread your work. I am guessing, but did you really mean "the taunt (to tease) tops of his buttocks," or taut, meaning tight. Unfortunately, the substitution of one word for a similar one with a different meaning happened multiple times. And my brain kept adding the "ly" when you used the adjective form when you should have used the adverb. Also, find a thesaurus--using the word "lave" more than once in the same paragraph is too much. To other reader, as I said, this novella has a good story. Just be prepared for writing errors that could have been easily fixed had someone proofread it before publication.

Hands down to the author. It had me laughing a little, but moreover it had me to tears.

This is a hard review for me to write. The actual story itself was good. Emotional and stirring. Unfortunately this book is kept from being something remarkable by the unbelievably bad editing. Misused words, misspelled words and simply incredible use of punctuation! In one sentence there is a comma after every other word! I am not a published author but I have to say, editing is worth every penny.

I found it to be a great quick read. The story was well written and the hot bits were really hot! I think that someone might have their stories mixed up because the woman in this story NEVER had an affair. Maybe they should read it again? All in all a good book.

While I normally prefer a lot of character development I realize that this must be somewhat limited by a novella. All in all though the two main characters were interesting. However, I could not find any enjoyment in the story due to the unending barrage of errors in grammar, punctuation, word usage and word choice. The anachronisms were almost as plentiful. I strongly recommend a good proof reader or two...one for errors and one for historical accuracy. Some examples: "Necked" is not some kind of slang or alternate spelling for "naked". One does not say "the Duke and Duchess Burkham". The correct method is "the Duke and Duchess of Burkham". Sometimes "your Grace" or "his Grace" must be used instead of "the Duke". "They'll" is not a contraction for "there will" and perspective should have been used instead of prospective. Finally, I seriously doubt that "abs" and "rep" were in use during the time period of this story.

If you can get past the plethora of random punctuation that does not belong, spelling and grammatical errors, and in general lack of an editor with eyes, its a decent read.

Good enough plot but lots of distracting grammatical errors and some of the language is anachronistic.

This was a free book with 245 pages. It was an easy read without a lot of story line. Damien is left an estate by the death of his father. He needs a bride to give him and heir. He chooses Lady Katherine Channing and then the story becomes the two of them trying to decide if they like (love) each other. Rather boring by my standards. I seem to be the only reviewer who didn't think this was a great book. Sorry!

Damien, Viscount Edrych, and Lady Katherine marry for different reasons and did not plan on falling in love. Love blossoms slowly between the newly weds. Damien's indiscretion the night before the wedding threatens the fragile bond. Will they be able to find their way back to each other? Good story but too many typos.

This was a good read, but it could use an extension. Will there be a male heir?

It could, have been, a cute, story but I don't, know because, I can't, get past the, abominable sentence structure, and especially the use, of commas. I swear it's like having William Shatner narrate in my head.

Definitely needs the services of a good copyeditor.

Great romance story if you can overlook the spelling and punctuation mistakes

I do not know if the editing crew was out to lunch or what. Sentences were incomplete and did not make sense. Thought it would have been better if the author would have went in to more detail about the story and characters than the sex.

This may be my favorite short story ever! I love both characters and I love their emotional and physical intimacy. I think the conflict was believable and resolved in a wonderful way. So good!

Interesting premise...good characterization...lively pace...but it must have been written by someone with a vivid imagination, and no grammatical skills whatsoever! Excessive commas, improper use of homonyms, and plural/possessive apostrophes incorrectly used! If it hadn't held my interest, you can bet it would be in the rubbish bin! As it is, I'll be deleting it; since I could not suffer the agony of those blinding errors again! I had my red pen in hand by midway through the first chapter. Too bad, really, since the author shows promise.

Bad grammar and poor editing on a major scale are too distracting to overlook. I believe Ms. Eden either needs to get better at writing, or find a better editor.
