Meet the Author

8/4/14 I'm about 1/3 of the way through Volume 8, Blue Flame. It will possibly be the last book in The Blue Series, however I can't say for sure yet. Once I get at least halfway through the writing process, I'll probably know. It's going to be quite an intense book, and will leave many of you shocked, but I'm hoping that will be a 'good shock.' :). If you want to read excerpts from Volume 8, you can visit my fb Under The Blue page:

https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=796521947059305&id=248116111899894¬if_t=like

Thanks! Oh, and by the way, Under The Blue is free and has been edited ad nauseam, however the new product is shiny and FREE for the time being.

My Email: jdillon2003@msn.com Please write me a message if you want, I'd love to hear from you.

Bio: As a novice writer, I wrote the first three books from The Blue Series during the years 2006 through 2009. I wrote Into The Blue over a six month period in 2012 and have recently finished Back To Blue, Volume 5 a few months ago. I am currently writing the seventh book in the series if you count Beyond The Blue as two books.

I grew up in Oceanside, California, attended and survived Vista High School, and did attempt twice in one lonely summer, to drown at Oceanside Beach. I desperately wanted to be a boy as a child and teenager and envied my two brothers for their gender. I was considered a loner, didn't have any friends, so I created the story as a means of escape. It worked most of the time and I have to admit, it kept me out of trouble.

Review for all books currently published

I wanted to wait and read all of the books published so far before giving my opinions regarding the story. I will agree with other reviewers that the story was a mite slow in the beginning (I did not mind at all), the story works masterfully at creating a slow burn. I did not, however, feel like this was a homophobic, spirit-saving read. While for the most part, the author is extremely informed and confident in her biblical knowledge, this definitely does not belong in a Christian bookstore. It requires the reader to question their own motives for religion and the necessity for forgiveness and redemption. Some of the characters are obviously homophobic; but for the most part, who wasn't in the 1980s when the mysterious HIV virus was beginning to rear its ugly head. All in all, this author has my deepest respect. I laughed and cried and hurt alongside David and Dillon and an fervently awaiting Volume 5.

    Zero Stars!

This book is xenophobic, homophobic, bible-thumping drivel. It is not even well written. As other reviewers have noted, it is very slow in the beginning. If you can make it through the first couple hundred pages, the pace picks up a bit, but it does not become worthwile. There are about a thousand poorly edited pages to go.
The main characters are unlikable caricatures of "good" and "evil". The good are portrayed as excessively pious, peppered with small flaws of insecurity, weakness, or violence. The villains are likewise one-dimensional and oscillate from pathetic depression and hopelessness to rage and aggression. Half way into the book, I was challenged to continue because I felt no sympathy for or connection to the characters.
On a purely technical note, the arc of the story was non-existant. There are also several typos that spell check missed like substituting homophones or "caste" for "cast." The point of view switches between characters too often, and the story becomes unnecessarily repetitive because of it.
Look elsewhere if you want a good book.

    ONE OF THE BEST SERIES!!!

I was really suprised when i was reading this series because it was dark and sexy. The content was a luttle shocking at first but it really helped you get a image in your mind. I hope theres a fifth book because i didnt like how it ended but if she wants to leave the way she did i can use my imagination about what might happen next.

    What agreat read!

I didn't realize I was at the end because the story is NOT finished. I am amazed I can enjoy a boy with a dark side being balanced by a brother with a good side.
The writer caught my attention with the cover and without me realizing burrowed into my reading body.

It was a little slow to start but well worth trudging through. I've read all 4 books published so far and am (impatiently) awaiting #5!!!!! These books make you "feel" like your part of this story! I recommend you get into the blue, it's a great story!!!

    Not bad.

The other reviewers were right, takes a bit to pick up but it gets good enough. This book (it felt to me) had a bit of homophobia running thru it. The 2 main boys in the book were deathly afraid of being touched by another boy in any way, and heaven forbid, dont sit on their bed while they are in it if your a guy!! I got the distinct impression the author was trying to save my soul and lead me to christianity. 1226 pages, give or take. This book reminded me of the christian author, Frank Peretti.

    The Blue series

This is a series of books and the author did a great job. It's a unique story line and the characters grow and evolve as the story continues. I've read them all and love them!

    Ummmm?

This book is confusing and not that great. I'm one of the biggest readers you could ever meet and I always give novels a chance. Maybe the reason all of her books are free are because they're not that good.

    Under The Blue

I would much rather have rated this a 3.5, I rounded it down instead. Although the book is interesting - the main characters, surprisingly, defy all the normal stereotypes of "good" and "evil", the plot works, the POV switches make relative sense - it is an obnoxiously long story, over 1000 pages. The author repeats ideas and thoughts way too often, and all around assumes the reader can't put two and two together to make four.
All in all, I am very glad I got this for free, for I would have rued paying for it, but it needs the hand of an experienced editor to pick up the story's broken pieces, and cut up the slack.

You have to have patience with this story

It started really slow and I almost didn't finish it, it didn't seem like it was going anywhere and I was expecting something different based on the title. It took me over 700 pages to really get into it. I couldn't wait to start volume 2.

    Pretty good.

I really did like this book, but i have yet to read the others. For the most part the book was well written... but its slow. It took a long time to get through, and it didn't appear to be proofread for errors. The chapters started and stopped at weird times and i found myself skipping pages at a time just to get on with it. This book should have been in two parts and allowed for more character development. None of the characters did anything significant until about the last 100 pages.
