Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Tim Whitney
The world of fifth-grader Ritchie Willis takes a turn for the worse when his mother suffers from a nervous breakdown and is sent to the hospital. His younger sister Rosie becomes sick, and his father continues to be highly uncommunicative and often in a sour mood. Then mysterious letters begin to arrive at Ritchie's house addressed to his sister Rosie. The letters contain many strange and difficult words, signed by a troll who lives underneath a nearby bridge. Rosie is too little to believe otherwise, but Ritchie begins to wonder who could be writing these letters that contain information that most people would not know. Set in the U.S. at the beginning of World War II, Under the Bridge is a unique story with sad moments and an uplifting ending.
