Overview

In a small town in Northern California, the olives are ripening and the Keller women, a multigenerational family of firstborn daughters, are preparing to send their youngest, Erin, abroad. Although she worries about forsaking her family, she is compelled to take a chance at living her dream.

A crisis the day before she is to leave makes Erin question her choice. Is it possible that before she can return to Hill House, she might lose one of her beloved grandmothers? Because, although she has three caretakers—Anna, her great-great-grandmother; Bets, her great-grandmother; and Callie, her grandmother—Erin has no mother. It is an absence keenly felt and never mentioned.

Under the Olive Tree offers a tantalizing glimpse into the secrets of the Keller women, which spill out in surprising and heartbreaking ways in the forthcoming novel The Roots of the Olive Tree. Enjoy this early taste!

I enjoyed the story; as a matter of fact, I though it was quite good, if a little too short,. Unfortunately, it was filled with far too many typos. Why wasn't this book edited more carefully? This is my first Nook book, and although it was under the "free" category, I hope this is not the standard I can expect.

    Ech

18 pages of introduction. This should have been listed as a sample. Too many typos and errors in this for me to buy the book.

    Highly Recommended

I enjoyed reading Under the Olive Tree and will definitely read Courtney Miller Santo other books. I need to find out more about what happens to all of the family members. I am hooked. There is always drama when you have multiply generations of women living together, but to find out how their lives affect each other is the true story.

    Good read!

Short novella about the same 5 women that were in Roots of the Olive Tree. Highly recommend!

    Yuck!

The author jumps between characters too quickly before establishing them clearly. Very disappointed.

    Generations of Love

Under the Olive Tree is a very nice little prequel to the book Roots of the Olive Tree. Anytime I can get a prequel to a book I jump on it and after reading this one I knew I wanted to delve into the lives of 5 generations of strong independent women. Generation books have always been a weakness for me and this book lived up to any hopes I had for a great read. Not to mention I always enjoy learning something new and the detail of the olive business in California was a joy to learn.
