Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Trying to describe life under the sea in this early reader, which is part of the "Usborne Beginners," may have been too ambitious. Other books in the series have a little narrower focus and they are more cohesive and less a compilation of sound bites. That said, there is a still plenty to be learned about dolphins, sharks, jellyfish, octopuses, sea turtles, sea horses and their watery habitat. Each page is filled with colorful illustrations. The book has a table of contents, glossary, index and refers the reader to Usborne's Quick Links Web site. The back cover lists some Internet safety rules and also has a note for adults. This book would also be a good choice for kids not reading on grade level or those in ESOL programs. 2003, Usborne, Ages 4 to 8.
