A fun read with a lot of poetic license

If you are a purist and demand historical accuracy, this read is not for you. If you can get past phrases like 'you're on my turf' and 'serial killer' being used in ancient egypt, then you will enjoy this series. I shuddered a bit when I began to read it, then reminded myself that it is fiction not a biography.

Skip this series if you like historical fiction

This so-called historical fiction series on Ramses the Great is poorly written, and completely misleading as far as historical accuracy. The author throws in Helen of Troy, Homer, & Moses all together in this series, the cultural anachronisms are extreme, one of the major ones is that Ramses is described as essentially monogamous with three biological children, while historians tell us he had over 100 from his extensive harem! He talks and acts like a 20th century husband and father, and you never feel as if you are in an ancient culture. In general the whole series is disappointing.

    Last but not least!

Just because Rameses is old and its the last book, does not mean the adventure wanes. I loved it. It was full of action and painted a colorful picture of Egypt. The thing I love about the series, it also seeing how the character has grown and changed. Mr. Jacq successfully illustrates that. Also this series, had a very satisfying ending. Whch many books lack at times.
