Overview

T.J. is a young boy who feels he has no place in the world. His father is wrapped up in his own problems and wants his son to just grow up. He only feels like he
belongs when his best friend Emma comes to visit each summer.

Then he finds the willow tree.

At first, T.J. is scared, as it's too far away from his boundaries in the tiny city of Dahlonega, Georgia. But after some coaxing, his parents finally agree to let him play there with Emma. The expanse of the tree is perfect for childhood games, hiding, tree-climbing, and anything else they can think of. And they soon learn that the tree has a rich history all its own: both fictional and real.

This eleventh summer is one of growing up, whether or not T.J.'s ready. And even though he's a level-headed boy who usually makes the right decisions, nothing prepares T.J. for what the tree has in store for him.
