Overview

Cat Madsen left her hometown ten years ago, escaping to Vegas with hopes of becoming a famous showgirl, but those dreams evaporate when she finds out that the owner of the club she pole-dances at also dabbles in drug trafficking. Now, using her ailing father as an excuse to return home to the town that rejected her, Cat is back with a renewed determination to prove her worth. But her tarnished reputation may prevent her from building a future among small-town attitudes.

When an undercover assignment lands Detective Reese Jamieson in the tiny town of Sweetwater, he is skeptical it’s a hotspot for anything. Then he gets his first glimpse of the ex-Vegas showgirl who runs the new pole-dancing workout studio. Reported to be a hometown gal with a checkered past, she is considered the prime suspect to front a drug ring, but he begins to wonder once someone threatens the beautiful woman’s life and business. Reese struggles to keep things professional. When things become personal, Reese must risk everything, including Cat’s trust, to protect her from the past.

Meet the Author

My passion is in taking the ordinary and creating something extraordinary. It is what has fueled my life in many ways from an office career to motherhood, being a newspaper columnist and stepping into writing fiction. My love for penning "character-driven" stories-many of them romance- allows me to explore the potential and possibility that lives deep inside each of us. One of my favorite review quotes states that “she is a true artist in the writing realm" It is my delight on this journey to continue to stay fresh, be unique to my voice, and listen to my readers.

I am honored to be published internationally, in audio, in E-book and in print. A multi-genre published author, I write contemporary and historical with plenty of steam and love putting my characters through the wringer when it comes to the HEA;)

Reviewed by Julie Review originally posted at Romancing the Book Book provided by the publisher for review Undercover Temptations is told in third person. We have the point of view of Cat and the point of view of Reese. Cat is feeling what many might feel returning home after a long absence to a small town that doesn’t forget easily. She is trying to care for her father and start a new life and business for herself. This is stressful enough, I would think. Cat has the added pressure of being the target of someone’s intense anger and unbeknownst to her , she is also under investigation in a drug related case. Enter Reese Jamieson. All he knows is that Cat has moved back home after living in Vegas. He is following a drug connection linked to Cat’s boss in Vegas. There is also the fact that a few old acquaintances from her hometown have been know to indulge from time to time in drugs. Reese doesn’t expect to find Cat so physically attractive, however. The story for me was too short for any real character development. The romance was really rushed. The mystery and suspense angle was what the main focus of the story. The author does a great job of setting the small town scene through the eyes of someone that had grown up there and was returning after a long absence. The relationship with Cat and her father did improve and it seems that maybe her father will live a more productive life. To my knowledge this book is not a part of a series. There were a few holes in the storyline. I didn’t really get why Cat was the person of interest in the drug investigation. The writing was fluid and easy to read. There were no grammar or spelling mistakes that I saw. I was able to visualize the characters and locations. I have not read any books by this author previously, but I see she is a rather seasoned author with quite a few publications. I would like to read other books from Amanda McIntyre so I could get a better picture of her writing style and storytelling. The steam level was a 2. The love scenes were too rushed for me. It’s hard to pull all of that off in just 70 pages. The mystery was borderline predictable. It did keep you guessing, but I did think I had it figured out before the end of the book, but I wasn’t 100 percent positive. Overall this would be a good book to read while on the commute home, or on your lunch break.

Sweet romantic romance! While on vacation, I only felt like reading short stories and I fell upon Undercover Temptation (Red Boot Diaries) written by Amanda McIntyre! I love this author's style of writing! and again, I was not disappointed! What can an undercover cop, named Reese, and a former pole dancer, named Cat, do to make sparks flare***? It's a short novella, funny and sexy all the way! Ms. McIntyre always gets me hooked to her fast paced suspense! I really enjoyed it and I recommend this ideal summer pause! Just enjoy!
